It was blisteringly hot out. He’d been walking for a larger part of the day. Heat broke 90 before 10 this morning, and felt like it was still on the rise, nearly four hours later. Strangely everyone he passed seemed to be taking the heat in stride, which Kejital could not understand for the life of him. Granted, he made the stupid decision to wear jeans and paid for it, he felt like he was breathing fire in with each step.
Maybe he was.
As he felt the thermal waves crash into him as he headed to a small park from some quiet time and a respite from the scorching weather. The heat was unbearable; breathing it in began to be uncomfortable. Still he passed people who seemed fine, ignoring the heat entirely, while he languished beneath the oppressive sun.
Already labored by the heat, Kejital breathed in, he swallowed it hard resulted in a coughing fit. Did he get some weird sickness and not realize it? He looked at his body- no fur sprouting, no hooves growing, it couldn’t be his condition acting up- or could it?
As he wondered and baked on the outside, and coughed, he felt his skin growing hard- and discoloring. He stopped sweating almost at once, oddly enough and his skin dried out, cracking in hard circular patterns. It was his condition after all. His heart beat faster, he could feel his insides getting warmer, and suddenly relief from the heat- or more correctly, from the pain it caused replaced the raging fire within.
Yet he could feel warmness spread within him, matching the outside temperature, and quickly exceeding it. From his mouth it spread throughout his entire body, filling him with a strength- springing vitality back into weakened limbs.
Energy filled Kejital, and he flexed as his muscles grew, as his skin continued to harden and discolor. As the fire coursed through his veins, he felt pressure trying to escape his body- beginning with his hands. The hard skin began to change color- green. On his fingers it began at the bases of his finger tips-, which soon transformed into claws- losing a digit as they grew into talons. As the scales-, which he recognized, replaced flesh through out his body, claws and horns were beginning to grow from fingertips, toes and elbows.
Internally he was changing too His skeleton thickened and grew, increasing his muscle mass and further contorting his body. As another shock rocked his body, Kejital felt to his knees, his growing body making tatters of his clothing- nothing new. Already becoming cold blooded and basking in the sun, he felt the sun warming his back, which responded through changing.
A tail burst from his rear end, growing long, scaled and lined with spikes. His shoulder blades duplicated themselves, and soon sprouted another set of limbs with hand like endings. The digits at the end of them lengthened, drawing a black membrane with them- Kejital was growing wings.
His face was not exempt from changes, his coughing now ceased, and his face was lengthening, as the scales embraced it. His teeth sharpened and grew, filling his draconic maw with daggers. His pupils slit, and his face-hardens from human to dragon. Horns swept back from his brow, as his ears fanned out into fins.
His body continued to morph, his arms becoming powerful forelegs, while his legs became stronger blacklegs. His chest barreled further, pushing his collarbone and spine around to accommodate his new quadruped form. As his collar bone shifts, his neck extends, pushing his head farm from his shifting body.
Wings stretch for the sky, claws sink to the ground, and a tail swishes behind him, eyes hungry for the skies. Instead of standing above the ground like a human, Kejital towered over the ground, as a massive “Dragon”. He said, a strange satisfaction filled his voice, despite the fact that he was dangerously exposed- and none of his changes had ever been this large or imposing looking. He wasn’t going to fit into his house now, and he’d have a hard time explaining this to local authorities.
Realizing that he may never get another chance at this form, Kejital lifted his great leathery wings and soared into the air. It was time to see what this body could do- but he’d have to remain near ground- if he changed back up from miles in the sky- impact could kill. Dragons weren’t supposed to exist, and maybe they didn’t as of right now, Kejital didn’t care, being impossible was an everyday occurrence for him. With a moment’s hesitation, he flung himself into his form and let his body show him what it could do.
An older form of Kejital’s redone. I finished this sketch in Florence, and only got to color it now, bam.
He’s been done in at least four dragon forms (Blue aquatic, This one, Wyvern and Red and blue aquatic), and this one’s my favorite. I haven’t done much with this form in a very long time, and thought it high tide to resurrect it. I’m not going to go on about why I choose to have Kejital give a mixed response, but the short and dirty of it is, he doesn’t trip on imaginary power.
As for those asking about why some of my old my Dev’s are hidden, I don’t want stuff I was doing in high school coming up over my more recent stuff, that’s all. I’m also unsure whether I’ll be releasing it again or deleting it.
