MD's emotional scenes 2: Grovyle and Celebi watching dawn
If you would ask me some months ago "What's the best emotional scene in the Explorers game?", I would have told you "It can only be Grovyle taking Dusknoir in the future to let the protagonists reach Temporal Tower". And why would you blame me? That scene is nothing but perfect: the directing, the dialogue, the music (for years I always called "Through the sea of time" "the music of Grovyle's sacrifice"), everything contributes to make that scene perfectly heartbreaking. Yeah, l knew "In the Future of Darkness" existed and that at the end Grovyle, Celebi and Dusknoir were erased from existence right during the dawn, but while loving the whole episode I was never really impressed by that scene. What made me change idea?
The music.
"In the morning Sun" is now my favorite sad music in videogames. As soon as I heard it, along with the very wholesome dialogue Grovyle had with Celebi, I cried. I think the scenery also played a major part in making the moment worth of everything. Points also for giving me a reason to sustain the Grovyle x Celebi ship, which was always one of my favorite (no wonder in this drawing Grovyle and Celebi are hugging each other 😁).
So that makes for the best emotional scene in the series (Explorers just couldn't lose), but there's still Gates to Infinity which still manages to come close. So stay tuned for next (and for now last) installment of this miniseries.
