The snow fell gently on the quiet city, muffling the sounds of the bustling world. The air was crisp and cold, but the streets sparkled with holiday lights and decorations, casting a warm glow on everything they touched. Outside, two figures walked amidst the aftermath of their Christmas feast.
“Tell me again,” the kobold said with a playful smirk, patting his belly. “Who thought it was a good idea to order two extra pies on top of the turkey and ham?”
The spider groaned dramatically, his crimson eyes narrowing as he flicked crumbs off his chest with one of his four arms. “You didn’t complain when you had thirds, did you? Besides, you were the one who suggested the cookie platter.”
The kobold chuckled, the motion causing his gut to wobble slightly. “Fair point. But come on, this is Christmas. If we didn’t overdo it, would it even count as celebrating?”
The spider huffed and sat up slightly, the movement making his full stomach press even tighter against his sweater. “You’re not wrong,” he admitted, his lips twitching into a small grin. “Speaking of overdoing it...” He gestured to a tray of brightly decorated cookies and a half-full bottle of milk sitting on the coffee table. “Care to finish what we started earlier?”
The kobold’s eyes lit up, and he rubbed his hands together with mock seriousness. “It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. Santa’s not coming for these cookies—guess it’s up to us.”
