Another reason that I've been posting less is because of my growing interest in guerrilla nature conservation. Can a hobby save the world, no but a movement could. If land is going to be consumed by a construction project then all the flora and fauna taken to be redistributed to other locations is a preservation of biodiversity. Collecting the seeds, bulbs, and creatures to release or plant in another location has become an exciting past time. Here are several of my characters engaging in this conservation punk practice. Using a wildlife identification app is important to this hobby. Also the rush of dodging cops and Karens to save the natural world is part of the fun. In most instances the property owner will let you collect if you explain what you're doing. In one case I got permission to replant and replace on another lot the owner had. I feel like being a steward of the natural world God has entrusted us with is a divine obligation. Although it is equally easy to advocate for conservation in purely secular terms. I really want to use these three characters as examples of punk ecological protection.

This is such a great thing!
I leave the vases on my balcony to be seeded by whatever plant arrives with the winds, sometimes i throw some weed seeds myself, because i realized the number of pollinators visiting them is way bigger than with decorative plants. Weeds are also very interesting and tough.

A lot of replanting projects done by landowners and organizations have good intentions but end up as a field of one or two plant species. I think people can take action in this way to help introduce more biodiversity into conservation projects. Giving native species just a little bit of help can have good long term impact.
I've heard of those, a great way to propagate. I've been meaning to try playing with the mixture to try and make them more effective. I'm worried the ones I've been trying are to tough for the seedlings to get out of. I'd like to make some that crumble up by design.
I've been collecting and spreading native wildflower across Texas, Florida, and North Carolina for the last 8 years. I'm careful about it. It won't do to spread invasive species. I don't think this is a replacement for major traditional conservation efforts, however it is a great boost for it. I've also helped by stocking lakes with small local killifish, shiners, mussels, grass shrimp, dace, and other species. I talk to the pond owners asking them to wait for these prey species to get established before stocking with game fish.
This is such a great idea! I live in Connecticut, where the State motto is, Qui transtulit sustinet (He who transplanted still sustains). What better way to sustain the local wildlife than remove it from endangered places and move it to a safer environment?
