Todays piece is a quick and simple fanart of Flinky the stoat from the Redwall Novel "Loamhedge". Flinky was by far the best character in Loamhedge and had the absolute best songs in all of Redwall so I knew I needed to draw him eventually. I've actually been putting off drawing flinky for a very long time but I finally had an idea for what to draw him doing soo I put this piece together. The idea in this piece was to draw Flinky after the conclusion of the story, during Flinky's side arc we find out him and his little group of vermin don't want to be involved in the attack on Redwall and just want to find a nice place to settle down and live peaceful lives so I decided I'd draw Flinky finally getting that calm relaxing life he always desired. For the rest of the piece I wanted to implement some practice stuff because I'm always looking to practice more so I decided to try out a technique I heard of called detail without detail. The idea was that you imply the existence of detail in a scene without actually having to put too much effort in, so I implemented that in the background with the trees on the far side of the river, each tree is only like 5 stright lines going but up by staggering where the lines begin and the pressure I put on my brush when drawing it gives off the impression of there being more detail on each tree then there actually is. Next I tried the detail without detail on the grass by changing my brush and then making a single quick upwards slashing motion and removing pressure near the top of each stroke I was able to give off the impression of individual grass blades without putting too much effort into them (still took 15 minutes to get all the grass down but much faster then if I drew detailed grasses). The last thing I wanted to work on was a water texture in the river, I tried the same method I used in my Verm and Gwen "Small Saga" fan art but on a larger scale, I liked it but my friend said it looks a bit out of place and I do agree a bit there so I'll keep working on finding a good water texture. Otherwise the full image was a quick and simple piece to make and I intended to have it out sooner but things happened and I didn't end up working on it on Sunday so it got delayed by a day as a result. That's everything I have to say about this piece.
Thanks for viewing my art
Have a wonderful day/night
