Considering a lot of other settings, or the depth of dangers that COULD exist in a setting like this, yeah it's pretty light haha.
Almost nothing can permanently capture or kill you, and if you stick to civilized areas there's not a lot of things threatening to (unwillingly) transform or mess with you.
Any "brainwashing" is generally temporary barring extreme circumstances.
Sure a lot of this stuff is shown off in the art because that's what the target audience is interested in, but living there isn't entirely unmanageable in-lore.
