The avians of the Eastern Canyons keep to their own for the most part. You will see them flying high in the sky every once in a while, but I can count on one paw the number of times I've seen them on the ground. When I was young, I was enthralled by the thought of flying and I remember reading an old tome, which detailed much of avian life, in my free time.
As they become fledglings and their feathers have grown in, avians participate in a ritual simply known as the "Leap of Faith". The village elders and close family travel with the fledglings to the tallest cliff in the canyon and just...uh...push them off and hope for the best!
The book made sure to mention it's been nearly a century since a fledgling "failed" the ritual and that there were safety precautions in place these days, but all in all I can't even begin to imagine how exhilarating that first flight must be. Category Music / Fantasy
