Oh, Kitsune. Is speed? If everything works out perfectly, it's only 4 illustrations a month - that's not enough. 40 hours doesn't seem like a lot, but it's the best you can achieve, and it's a simple idea, composition, etc.
Digital art takes up a lot of time due to so many functions and the lack of punishment for mistakes, and I spend something like 70 hours on high-quality lines for a full body. I don't like lines, but okay. It's a nightmare. It's very hard to work now.
I'm a traditional artist, digital art is not something I want to be at the forefront of. Everything has its price. I like the style that comes out in digital drawings, especially when it's angular, but it's initially just a consequence of working with the mouse. And it's definitely much more than using a stylus. But I don't have it, and I don't want to have it. If I had bought a tablet, I would have had to paint, giving up lines. It's such a mess.
In short, I do not know how long it takes you to create an illustration, but I find it hard to believe that it takes you more time than I do, if you calculate it in hours:о
