Yeah, even guard in concentration camp just did his job. Or thousands of state employees in represive states, they are too just doing their jobs. Mostly boring, mundane, but it pays bills. Who cares deeply about consequences cannot do it for long.

Sometimes it could be really dangerous not doing their job or to question opinions. Other people around are like troop of monkeys. So called normal people will attack you if you will be too different, if you will not agree with authority or religion or whatever is "universal truth" at the time. They often fear, they will be penalized with you. Even worse if you are saying something which will lesser profit of people around you. End of slavery definitely can lesser profit of many powerful people.

They teach us, slavery was ended by revolution. But it is not full truth. Very significant influence had industrialization, slavery was not competitive enough and revolution, civil war... was final end. But without machines... who know, how it would ended? Maybe machines can give hope to pelts too?

We may evolved a little, but deep inside we still have that monkey which likes sometimes take a control.

I wonder if people in this world feel it similarly.

Anyway, it is what we like on furry people, they doesn't have monkey inside, but other species with their own tendencies and behaviours. Their differences create contrast to our little monkeys inside us.
