Starting the new year with a personal update to resuscitate this quiet gallery. A ref sheet combined with a layout of strange things that can be done to him.
It's been long enough that It's appropriate for my character to have a backstory, so here's a summary of a headcanon I've been concocting for a while...
Trevik resides in an alternate universe within the Mass Effect game series where cartoon physics are commonplace, but uncontrollable. Nobody can squash and stretch themselves without an exterior force, and nobody can pop themselves back to normal without the help of someone else. In the place of hospitals, facilities exist that restore victims using specialized equipment and scans of their original form.
Long ago, a highly advanced species called the Protheans attempted to create a machine that could produce indestructible super soldiers, by harnessing a person's innate malleability. The project never achieved any desirable results, so the project was canceled and the device abandoned. Later the location of the project was discovered on an unknown moon, seized by a patrolling turian fleet. During transportation, one turian engineer came into contact with the device. Reacting to the alien DNA, the machine finally found a compatible subject and came to life, engulfing the turian in an intense beam of radiation. A sound heard across the entire ship signaled the remaining crew to rush to the scene, only to find a machine overloaded beyond repair, and an undulating pile of goop on the ground, colors reminiscent of the unfortunate turian victim. The unsettling sludge was scooped into a waste barrel and dropped off at the nearest planet for study. Weeks passed while the blob was observed by curious scientists from outside a glass chamber who marveled at its subtle, lifelike movements, which became more apparent over time. Only after a month had gone by it would start morphing into a vaguely humanoid form, features becoming more defined day after day. Soon scientists would be shocked to walk in one day and find a half-formed turian rising from the once shapeless pile...
Trevik's entire body is made up of a malleable, organic substance, retaining the DNA of his original species. The properties of which are closely akin to clay, with some exceptions. As a result, his entire form consists of a singular mass with no real organs to speak of.
He can manipulate his body at a molecular level. While any of his own molecules are in direct contact, he can control them similarly to a muscle. He can stretch and contract his molecules to a generous limit, allowing him to alter his shape, size, and density. His consciousness resides in specific molecules that make up his "brain," functioning as a whole while they're together. For this reason, he's required to carefully configure them to his shape to maintain sentience.
His body can melt or solidify under certain conditions and can do so at will, to an extent. Extreme temperatures force him to change consistency, turning to liquid under a controlled heat, or solid with intense heat. As the moisture leaves him, he progresses to a rubbery state, then hardening to a ceramic state. However, he can only control himself in his loose clay state, making heat a reliable way to incapacitate him. Being melted also impedes him, as his brain molecules are forced to flow uncontrollably. If he comes in contact with another substance, especially when mixed into his body, his ability for change form weakens since the foreign particles block the connection of the adjacent clay particles.
