Some days ago the great Benoit Allemane left us. His work was simply legendary. His deep, warm voice made my childhood, interpreting Santa Claus in many shows and many movies, Zeus in Hercules, Foghorn Leghorn in Looney Tunes media, Goliath in Gargoyles, Tony the Tiger, not to mention very many documentaries, commercials and trailers as well as Morgan Freeman in most of his roles. Upon learning his passing Monday, I literally teared up, a big chunk of my childhood and of my love for cinema left with him. One of my bighest regrets is to have never been able to meet him and tell him how much he had mattered to me growing up. Thus, I had been hesitating during these 4 days on what to draw as a tribute. So many iconic roles, what to choose ? So today came the idea of doing the exact opposite and drawing one of his least known, least serious, most parodic roles, Jean-Louis the Sock and Christmas Spirit who warms the hearts and the feet, from the Joueur du Grenier videos on YouTube. I gotta say that after having heard the sad news, I watched again the special video about Home Alone games and seeing him fly away saying "merry Christmas" as the 2 YouTubers wave at him hits different now
