I'm sure Machairodus isn't a name you'd associate with the "Sabertooth Tiger" name, but I noticed that old paleoart of sabertooth tigers are labeled as "Machairodus", so I thought that maybe machairodus was named sabertooth tiger before smilodon (machairodus WAS discovered a fair chunk of time before smilodon)
