Funtastic fact: the creators of TMNT said that female ninja turtles were "creatively bankrupt". So the challenge lies in using Sofonisba here in an interesting way, to blunt the creative bankruptness.

Sofonisba (named after a female Renaissance painter, unlike Venus; I hope I spelled her name right) is the result of an experiment--someone tried to replicate the TMNT, using near-exact circumstances. Unlike most other sentient experiments of this kind, Sofonisba didn't go coo-coo for cocoa puffs at any point--unfortunately, she had no formal combat training, and after learning of the Venus debacle, decided not to go and meet the original TMNT like she'd planned.

On the plus side, Rock and Proto had no problems with her, and offered to help her out. One naginata ("isn't it just a pike?") later, and Sofonisba was ready to start training.

Like a lot of things I draw, Sofonisba originated from a dream--apparently, I was wandering around a Toys 'R Us in 1997, and saw some Rangers in Space VS. TMNT stuff on the shelves. The suit and bandanna colours all matched (at first), and since one of the Rangers was pink--yeah. (In practice, she's sorta the anti-Venus)
