Oh my goddd this took so long to finish. *___* It took me about six and a half hours total and it has about 117 layers. I'm extremely proud of it!
Every evening behind the Styx mansion where these two live, humans, bears, and all manner of creatures display their wares in this marketplace area. Humans try to sell to the Styx mostly so that they can get to know the individuals who frequent the market in hopes that they'll one day receive a Styx blessing. The Styx are able to gift humans with the ability to use magic (but they must also transform a part of their body - for example, giving them deer's legs or a Coronis tail). Almost all humans desire a Styx blessing so that they can become part of the new race of "enhanced" humans.
The two Styx in the foreground of the picture are named Dameiko (left) and Aussie (right). They are juvenile Styx, very adventurous, and they enjoy roaming the marketplace every night. Tonight they've climbed atop a beam of wood connecting two booths to watch from above. Everyone's already left, but it doesn't matter - they are entranced by the fire lanterns, a human creation that has always fascinated the Styx.
These two Styx characters are important to me because in my original Styx dream (yes, the entire Styx species and world came from a dream I had about three years ago), there were three definite characters - a tiger-striped male, a cream female, and myself. Dameiko represents me in the dream - I distinctly remember having snow leopard spots. Aussie is the cream who was one of my friends in the dream. I did not include the tiger-striped boy in this image because he would have thrown off the symmetry, but he's usually with Dameiko and Aussie - let's just say he already went to sleep.
Soooo... there's the story. I hope you like the picture. I definitely do!
