After putting it off for so long… I finally decided to create a new account. Well, it's not exactly my first experience with Fur Affinity—I've already had a profile here. It's just that I now go by a different internet alias, and so I decided to make an account under that name.
Anyway! Lo and behold, Katta: he is a hybrid, a cross between a cat and a protogen, representing a species (or, perhaps, a product line?) that I've dubbed kattagen. Let me give you some background: the term “protogen”, on which I based the name of the species, comes from the Ancient Greek πρωτο- (meaning “primitive”, as in an early stage of development) and γένος (“kin” or “origin”). In the same vein, the “katta-” part in kattagen comes from the Ancient Greek κάττα, meaning “cat”! And yes, I know, it's not THE word for cat (usually you'll find the word αἴλουρος instead), but, admit it: “ailurogen” doesn't have the same ring to it.
This, by the way, means, his name is pretty much just Cat, but… let's forgive and forget.
Another thing: the art style. I really like a pixel-y style that is not quite pixel art, but at the same time forces you to get creative on pixel level. I suppose I admire simplicity where it's due, and due it is right now. Really, it took me a long time to actually sit down and start drawing. Drawing it was the easy part.
That being said, yay!, first post! Thanks for taking the time to read this and making it this far. I look forward to sharing more of my art as time marches on.
Peace out!
