Fernor never wanted to die. In life she and her husband were members of the Bloodtotem Tribe of Highmountain. With her husband, Roark Firespirit she had a daughter and was all set to live a long, happy life amid her tribe.
Then the Burning Legion invaded and the Bloodtotem swore themselves to the demons. She and her husband refused however and fled for Thunder Totem with their daughter hoping to find shelter and safety. The chieftain ordered their deaths, and they were hunted down by the newly empowered Feltotem. Fernor's family was hounded through the mountains and cornered in a cave. Roark died first, incinereated by felfire but slaying one of their pursuers. Fernor was next to die, beheading another but losing her right arm and horn in the fight. As she fell to the floor and bled out, she watched her pursuers stamp her daughter into the ground.
Fernor was brought back by the Ebon Blade and given a new arm and weapons and armor to fit her role as a Death Knight of Archeus. She was unhappy with the situation at first, her miscolored arm (They had a shortage of Tauren limbs due to the war against the Burning Legion) and broken horn an ever-present reminder of what she had lost. Eventually, with the help of her fellow knights, she got past that anger and has now resolved to protect the innocent of Azeroth.
