In the leadup to WW2 the US sold quite alot of hardwae to both sides of the war, so it might explain how some tech seem to have roots in the US despite being purely soviet or german manufacture. The christie tanks are a prime example, being an unpopular design by a US contracter, it was sold to the russian and ultimately became the enourmously successful T34
As for mounting, it can either be mounted in a light tank turret, on a field gun carrage or on an anti aircraft pintle.
