Chapter 2: Training Days
Running for a few hours Artie and the team finally reach the doors to Canterlot just as the sun was setting, but the moment the sun dropped past the mountain that Canterlot was on…*BOOM BOOMBOOM*…Eggman began the attack on the city.
“Oh good heavens! The Castle is on fire!” Rarity shrieked.
“This is bad….REALLY REALLY BAD! Cmon everybody we gotta hustle NOW!” Artie took off with everyone close behind.

As they enter the gates they are greeted my dozens of Eggmechs, the team scratch their hooves against the ground and crack their knuckles then take off towards them, dodging their shots left and right, Artie jumped up and double kicked one in the face, grabbed its gun and kicked it off the elbow and shot several other mechs, Knuckles and Applejack were bashing mechs left and right, stood side by side they even punched the same mech in the face, Pinkie was following Artie’s example and jumping on mechs but for some reason her hits were much harder than Artie’s, Rarity was using her gracefulness to effortlessly dodge the shots while Twilight hurled huge rocks at them with her telekinesis, Tails protected Fluttershy by shorting out any mechs that came close. As they continued on towards the castle they get a shocking sight….
The town is in shambles and ponies are scrambling to escape, but there are white pegasi ponies with gold armor trying to push open the door to the castle.
“Sirs, what happened here?” Twilight asked.
“Some kind of strange mare covered in metal armor attacked the city and nothing we did could stop her not even slow her down. We think she might be after the Princesses!”
“We’re not gonna let that happen! Applejack, Knuckles, bust open the door.” Artie and the guards stepped back from the door as Knuckles and AJ stepped forward, AJ turned around and stood on all fours as Knuckles summoned explosive power in his right fist, at the same time Knuckles punched with the power of a small explosion and AJ bucked the door and it swung right open. Artie and the other rushed in only to see Princess Celestia scream out in pain with a feminine figure with flowing hair and tail just like Celestia’s only it looked like a starry night sky with a small fireball floating in her raised hand standing before her. Celestia hit the floor with a thud as her flowing mane and tail stopped flowing…
“PRINCESS CELESTIA!!!” Everyone screamed as Artie rushed forward in a rage at the attacker, but with a swift swing of the arm the mare backhanded Artie across the throne room, flying over Twilight and the others before landing with a crash. Then Twilight and the others heard a familiar evil laugh as the armored mare turns around and faces them…
“No…it can’t be…NIGHTMARE MOON!” Twilight screamed as the others picked up Artie.
“Mwahahaha, I see you meddlesome fillies still remember me. I’m flattered.” She said.
“What have you done to the Princess?!” Rarity demanded.
“Oh nothing much, I just stripped her of her ‘sun magic’. And there’s nothing you foals can do about it!” She laughed.
“You look…shiny now?” Pinkie asked.
“Oh yes, thanks to my new ally, Dr. Eggman for giving me this new body. I am now…Metal Nightmare Moon, your feeble Elements of Harmony are useless against me now. Now BEGONE!” Her black mane flew forward like a powerful wind blowing everyone but Artie out the door and slammed it shut; the force of the slam made debris fall against it and bar it shut.
“Hmm? You are new…I’m surprised you weren’t blown away with those fillies. You intrigue me young colt.” M. Nightmare said.
“Yeah well, I seem to have that effect on ponies.” Artie said as he staggers to his hooves, “But…just to make a little note...try a different kind of shampoo. Phew…”
“Hmph...You’re either a very brave or a very foolish colt. Well then…I’ve yet to truly test my powers in this new body…” Before Artie could react she was already in front of him with her hand gently grabbing his chin, lifting up to meet her piercing eyes, “How would you like to help me, little colt?” With a quick lift she tosses Artie like a rag.

Wings as huge as Celestia’s sprang from her back, small but powerful jets fired and lifted her off the ground, surrounding herself with her magic turning herself into a black fireball…she blasted forward with blinding speed leaving a trail of black fire in her wake, Artie had just enough time to jump out of the way but she stopped on a dime and pulled a 180 and shot back at him from behind, he had just barely managed to leap backwards over her but her black flame scorched one of his hooves. She stopped again but only much sooner and doubled back again before Artie could fully land, he held out his hands to catch Metal Nightmare Moon and stop her but she flew right into him and kept on going, he tried holding her back but she just pushed him into a wall, grabbed him by the throat and hurled him across the room. Artie landed on his hooves and rushed Metal Nightmare with a roundhouse kick to her head but she just stepped back and avoided being hit, but a spark suddenly came off her cheek. She kicked him back with immense force and sent him skidding across the ground; she feels her cheek and finds a small gash in the metal.
“You’re no ordinary colt….” She growled as her mane and tail lashed out at Artie, he leapt off the ground and dodges the whip like attacks with stunning speed, “You’re quite fast for a young colt…” Artie tripped and M. Nightmare saw her chance to catch him with her mane and tail, wrapped him up and squeezed him before swinging him around and into a wall, “But nowhere near powerful enough to stop me.” Metal Nightmare dashed at him but Artie got up, cocked a fist back and launched it into Nightmare’s face sending her reeling, he then leapt at her with hooves forward and double kicked her, stomping her into the floor, grabbing a leg he swung her around and around and tossed her into a pile of burning pillars.
He fell to his knees exhausted and beaten up badly as Metal Nightmare Moon just walks out of the fire, “Hmm…what makes you think you can stop somepony like me? Compared to your feeble power, I’m a goddess…” She walks to him and grabs him by the throat…
Outside the others are beating on the door when Tails looks behind himself and sees a familiar blue streak.
“Everyone move out of the way! NOW!” Just as Tails finished that sentence a sonic boom erupted as a spinning spiked ball rockets into the door, destroying it completely, flying forward more and slicing off Metal Nightmare’s arm off like a buzzsaw, “GAHHHH, YOU BLASTED RODENT!” Just then a rainbow colored sonic boom erupted out of nowhere and a rainbow streak flew through the hole in the door toward Metal Nightmare and smashed her in the face at sonic speed sending her flying and through a wall.
“ARTIE! You ok pal?” Sonic asked helping Artie to his hooves.
“Sonic…man am I glad to see you and Dash…You gotta get Nightmare she took the Princess Celestia’s magic!” Artie wheezed. Metal Nightmare Moon using her telekinesis brings her arm back to her and reattaches it.
“Hmph…I see more modifications are needed to be made to my new body. I see me and my allies plan are not in any danger with your feeble powers.” With that she cloaks herself in her magic and vanishes with Celestia’s magic. Artie stomps the ground in frustration…
Several hours pass before Celestia finally wakes up, everyone is huddled around her with worried looks; Luna cried and hugged her big sister.
“Princess Celestia, are you ok?” Twilight asked.
“Ohh…y...yes…but I feel…weak…ooh…I fought Nightmare Moon with everything I had but…but her new form gave her a vast advantage…” Celestia said.
“Sister, your mane…its stopped flowing…Nightmare Moon stole your magic.” Luna said fighting through the tears. Suddenly a bandaged up Artie punches the wall…
“Grrr…I was there…right there…and I couldn’t stop her…gahh!!” Artie growled.
“Arthur, you have no reason to be angry with yourself. Nightmare Moon is just far too powerful. The only reason she stole my magic is because she knows I was her greatest threat. I was strong enough to defeat her but her new body threw me off…” Celestia said.
“No your highness…I do have a reason to be angry at myself. I couldn’t stop her from taking your powers…because she’s right…I’m just a weak colt…even Sonic couldn’t stop her. Even after cutting off an arm she just put it back on…but we got bigger problems now.” Artie said.
“Yes, without your magic you can’t raise the sun anymore.” Twilight said.
“Not to worry my faithful student, I made several precautions if such a thing happened to me. In my chamber is a ‘sun gem’ under my bed, all it needs is some of Luna’s magic and it will raise the sun and moon in perfect time. It already has a portion of my magic so it’s ready for yours Luna.” Celestia said.
“Ok sister, Arthur…promise you’ll get my sister’s magic back…please?” Luna asked.
“……I don’t know how we’re gonna do it…but…I promise we’ll get Celestia’s magic back.” Artie said hiding his hurt fist.
“Umm…if it’s ok…I’d like to stay here and help take care of the Princess.” Fluttershy asked.
“Ok Fluttershy, come back to Ponyville when you’re ready.” Artie said, “Get some rest Princess, you’ve been through a lot tonight. I got some thinking to do…” Later as the Royal Guards offered to give everyone a ride back to Ponyville, everyone but Artie takes the offer.
“Artie, are you feeling alright?” Twilight asked.
“Yeah…I just need to do some serious thinking is all.” After the others take to the sky Artie begins the long walk back to Ponyville thinking about what to do, “Hmm…they’ve all been saying that I BEAT Silver Sonic…but how can that be possible when I couldn’t even beat Nightmare Moon…alright…I need to train…get stronger……yeah…”
It was morning when Artie got back to Ponyville; Luna must have used the sun gem Celestia mentioned because the sun rose. There were just a few other ponies out at this hour so he asked them where a good secluded spot was and they all mentioned a lone lake in the Whitetail Woods. After getting first aid material because he was still healing and nursing a busted arm he headed to the lake, an hour later Twilight, Sonic and the others were looking for Artie since he wasn’t at Tails’s workshop. Twilight ran up to a bright green unicorn filly with a harp on her hip and a soft peach colored filly with a candy mark on her hip.
“Lyra, Bonbon! Have you seen a silver colt with a black mane anywhere?” Twilight asked.
“Oh you mean that…hehehe…handsome colt that was here this morning? He said he was looking for a secluded spot to go to.” Lyra said.
“Yeah he looked pretty beat up, he was covered in bandages. Last I saw of the hunky colt he was heading towards Whitetail Lake…though I’m not really into colts but he was pretty attractive.” Bonbon said looking at Lyra in somewhat of a sexy way. Twilight gathered the others and headed to Whitetail Lake and once they arrive they find Artie unconscious on the ground with his forearms wrapped in bandages. A while later they manage to wake him up and he’s stunned that they found him…
“Wha…what are you guys doing here?” he asked.
“Looking for you silly.” Pinkie said.
“What in tarnation are you doin out here all by yer lonesome?” Applejack asked.
“Hah…I hoped you guys wouldn’t find me…I wanted to train by myself. So I can get stronger to fight and beat Nightmare Moon…” he answered.
“Well you’re still in no condition to do any sort of thing.” Rarity said.
“Rarity is right Artie, if you’re going to train at least do it when you’re healed…and let us help you train.” Tails said.
“Wait? Wha?”
“Yeah we know how you feel Artie and we want to help you train.” Sonic said as Knuckles, Amy and Tails nod in agreement. Artie nodded and a week later he begins his training with Sonic and the others, Sonic drove Artie on a full speed run through the entire Whitetail Woods, Knuckles laid small heavy rocks on Artie’s back as he did pushups, Tails was working on something special for Artie and Amy helped by teaching him some of her old boxing moves and swinging her PikoPiko Hammer against him to help him take a huge hit and keep standing, Knuckles also helped with his fighting skills by teaching him some of his own martial arts. At the end of every day for the next 3 weeks they brought home a very exhausted Artie but as time went on Artie was walking back home without the others carrying him. His final test was to fight Sonic, Amy and Knuckles at the same time with his new weapon, a special made boken, at the end of the day Artie and the others were heading back to Ponyville, all of them pretty scuffed up.
Walking through Ponyville many of the fillies jaw dropped when they saw the new Artie, his muscles were more developed, you could see a clear definition of his muscles on is arms, he now has a subtle sixpack outlined under his shirt. Even Twilight and the other girls jaws dropped, even Fluttershy’s!
“Hoowee Artie, I reckon you might be able to beat Big Macintosh with a body looking like that.” Applejack said.
“Wow…the difference is amazing. I heard you were fighting Sonic and the others as a test, how did it go?” Twilight asked. Sonic and the others looked at one another then answered…
“He beat us.” They all said in sync, Artie is standing between them with a smug look and chuckling.
“Wow, Artie…you look hot!” Applebloom said resulting in AJ bonking her on the head.
“Umm…hehehe…thanks...I guess…” Artie blushed, “But it’s still gonna be a very hard fight with just me, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy.”
“Well….what if we help too?” Pinkie asked.
“Well, I don’t think the others would like…”
“Landsakes Artie, we’d all be happy ta help.” Applejack said.
“Yeah, anyone who wants to turn our home into a giant theme park is gonna have to go through me!” Rainbow said.
“I’ll help too…just don’t expect me to fight…” Rarity said being dainty as usual.
“I...I can help with medicine if anypony gets hurt while stopping that bad Eggman.” Fluttershy said.
“I don’t know what I could do; maybe help learn about the enemy maybe?” Twilight said.
“Artie, I have an idea. Come here…” Tails took Artie aside from the others, “Artie, I think they might have hidden abilities…much like you did that first night.”
“What makes you think that?” Artie asked. Tails then showed a recording of what Artie did that night and he caught what Tails meant, “Ohh I see, you think the things I did are the same things the girls are capable of?”
“Right, we just need a way to bring out their hidden abilities…” Tails said.
“I think I got the perfect method…” Artie said as he walked over to the others, “Ok Tails and I have an idea; you all are going to go through special training much like I did. Tails believes the things I did on the first night we arrived here might be the same things you all can do but we need a way to draw them out. Meet us at Whitetail Lake in three days, in that time I want all of you to be thinking of what your best known for and how that can tie in with what I did that night.”
As time passed Artie went to a store in Ponyville that sold small bells that can be tied on strings and bought five of them, Tails worked on making special items to replace Amy’s hammer and dull Sonic’s spines and Knuckles spiked fists.
Three days has passed and the ponies meet up at the lake, Artie and the others are already there waiting.
“Good, you all came. Now here’s how your training will work…” Sonic, Knuckles, Amy and Tails each held out a single bell on a string, “This is what’s called ‘The Bell Test’, the object of the test is for you to take the bells from us in any way you can think of. I warn you, we’re not going to go easy on you because you’re girls or our friends; this test is designed to take you to your limits and bring out your hidden abilities. Dash, Applejack, Pinkie….and Rarity, you’re going to be fighting Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Amy.” Artie explained.
“Wait…I understand Fluttershy not fighting…but why didn’t you call me?” Twilight asked.
“Well…it’s obvious Twilight…you don’t have any fighting capabilities. You’re like Tails…”
“HEY!” Tails snapped at Artie.
“The intelligent type, sure you can read all about fighting and stuff but if you were to go and fight one of Eggman’s machines…hate to say it but you wouldn’t stand a chance. Dash, AJ, Pinkie and Rarity are the ones who may have the same abilities I used that night. So I’m afraid you have to sit this out…” Artie said. Twilight sighed because he was right, so she began thinking of how to change that.
“Alright first up is Pinkie and Tails.” Pinkie bounds over to the lakeside and Tails hovers over as well, “Pinkie, you and the others have until sundown to get the bells. If you don’t, then we’ll have to do this again and again until you do.”
“Okie dokie lokie!” she said not taking this seriously. Tails got in a fighting stance with his tails at the ready.
“Ok…3…2…1…GO!” Pinkie bounds over to Tails as calmly as possible as Tails jets forward using his tails as a propeller, zooming past Pinkie, she giggles as she bounces after him like it’s a game instead of training.
“Oi…this isn’t working…there’s gotta be some way to make her take this seriously…” Amy said as Tails took to the air, much higher than Pinkie can jump. Just then Artie gets an idea…
“HEY Pinkie!”
“Yeah?” she asked turning around still jumping up and down.
“If you don’t get the bell by sundown……then NO MORE PARTIES IN PONYVILLE…PERMANENTLY!” The second Artie said that Twilight and the others gasped as Pinkie stopped jumping.
“No…more….parties…..NO NEVER, I WILL NEVER LET THAT HAPPEN EVER EVER EVER!!!!!” Just then her cutie mark on her hip began to glow as she crouched down low and then…jumped up and shot off like a rocket skyward with so much force the jump shattered the ground, she crashed into Tails then came back down hard on him, slamming him into the ground with insane force sending a dirt cloud upwards. As the dust cleared everyone saw Pinkie holding the bell, looking triumphant…
“Umm…I think I broke Tails…” she looked back at the crater she made and saw Tails’s head spring upward…
“Wow, I certainly wasn’t expecting that.” Twilight and the girls shrieked when Tails’s voice came from behind them, “What? Like Artie said, I haven’t fought since the incident with Emerl so I made a machine of myself to do it instead, but wow…Pinkie you surprised me.”
“Surprised all of us really…Ok, next up is Rarity and Amy.” Artie pulls Amy aside and whispers in her ear, “Think of something to tick her off like I did with Pinkie.” Amy then gets a sly grin as she walked to the lake side with a toy hammer.
“Hmph, darling, don’t you think this is a bit rash? I mean we’re both ladies of fashion so why bother fighting…” Rarity asked.
“Because your clothing style stinks.” Amy said. Twilight and the others looked in stunned silence as Rarity begins to growl.
“What did you say?” she asked.
“You heard me,” twirling her hammer like an umbrella, “Your designs suck and your sense of fashion is way outta wack.” Amy almost didn’t have time to duck as Rarity came charging at her with a pirouetting roundhouse kick.
“HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY DESIGNS!” Rarity shouted as she continued attacking, slapping and kicking Amy while using her natural grace to dodge Amy’s swings. Rarity then grabbed Amy’s dress and tore the skirt clean off, causing Artie and the guys to blush brighter than Knuckles is red.
“Wha…wha…wha….OOOOHHHHHHH, NO ONE RUINS MY DRESS LIKE THAT NOBODY!!!!!!” Amy threw away the toy hammer and brought out her PikoPiko Hammer and took a swing at Rarity, things seemed to move in slow motion as Rarity’s diamond shaped marks began to glow, her horn began to shine as a large diamond pillar shot out of the ground in front of Rarity and blocked Amy’s hammer.
“I knew it! She does have that diamond pillar ability!” Artie said. As the fight continued Rarity discovered she could control where the pillars come from and at what angle with her hands and hooves so now she can incorporate those movements into her dance moves, with just a thought she can launch several smaller diamond missiles at Amy and if she concentrates enough she can fire three huge diamond missiles at her. After a while both Amy and Rarity were exhausted but Rarity had an ace up her designer sleeve.
“Well I think this has dragged on long enough. Time to finish this so the others have plenty of time for their tests.” Rarity said as her horn began to shine brightly, she began pirouetting faster and faster as hundreds of diamonds shot up out of the ground, flying around her upwards in a spiral, “Get ready for Rarity’s Diamond Tornado!” In a split second the hundreds of diamonds became thousands as they formed a massive tornado, diamond shards struck Amy as they bounced off a barrier Tails had made for everyone and lifting her up the vortex, with an upward swing of her horn Rarity slices the tornado in half and makes it explode. Amy falls as the bell she had flies toward Rarity’s hand as Amy crashes into the ground.
“Wow…good thinking with those barriers Tails.” Sonic said.
“Yeah...ehhehe, though that was a lot more damage than I thought it could take.” Tails said. Rarity walked over to Amy and helped her up.
“Ok so Artie told me to…”
“I know. You had to do something to get me to actually fight you; I never knew I had that kind of power within me. It’s quite exhilarating really!” Rarity said.
“Just think Rarity, with more training you can probably create an even more dazzling and more powerful move. Ok next up is Applejack and Knuckles.” Artie said. AJ and Knuckles got in position, Knuckles is wearing special gloves that guard against his fist spikes stabbing Applejack.
“Hey Applejack, this is for making me harvest all those apples against my will.” Knuckles said as he smacks his fists together.
“Well this wouldn’t be fun if yer wernt really tryin.” Applejack said as she stomped the ground making cracks under her hooves.
“Oh boy…hey guys…who do you thinks gonna win? AJ or Knux?” Artie asked. Sonic and the others looked at each other then answer…
“Applejack.” Knuckles falls out of his fighting stance in embarrassment.
“OH THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT GUYS!!!” Knuckles screamed.
“Ok , 321 GO!” Artie shouted. Applejack charged forward and kicked at Knuckles who easily blocked it but his left foot dug into the ground with the hit.
“Heh, not bad.” Knuckles smirked.
“Oh you aint seen nuthin yet!” With just a little flex of her leg muscles she dragged Knuckles across the ground before sending him flying, “Years of applebuckin.” Knuckles dives into the ground and pops up under AJ, uppercutting her in the gut but AJ stood her ground, grabbed his arm and swung him into a boulder, she jumped after him with a kick coming at him. Knuckles ducks and AJ keeps going, her kick actually shatters the boulder.
A few hours later AJ and Knuckles are still going at it strong, the lake shore looks like a warzone…
“Yawn…how long has this fight been going?” Artie asked. Tails looked at this watch…
“Three hours….” Tails said.
“Wow…AJ’s got some energy.” Artie laughed.
“It’s probably from that one time she tried to handle applebuck season all by herself. She slept for a week afterwards…” Twilight said.
“Oh yeah, it was because she was too proud to even ask for help.” Rainbow said making a weird face.
“Hah…hah…hah…hey Knuckles…”
“Yeah?”
“I reckon we oughta finish this little throwdown soon before the others fall asleep…” Applejack said.
“Yeah, lets…” Knuckles said as he cracked his knuckles. Everybody stood up knowing Applejack could show her hidden power. Suddenly Applejack lassoed Knuckles and yanks him in her direction, time seemed to slow down as AJ tightened her right arms muscles and her apple mark began to glow. Just as Knuckles got in punching range Applejack let out an earthshattering punch against Knuckles’ barrier, Applejack’s legs digging into the ground as Knuckles shoots up over the clouds and the bell drops into Applejacks hand.
“Ehehehe...I think we found the Tsunade of Ponyworld…” Artie said.
“Dude…did you just make a Naruto reference?” Sonic asked as Artie nodded.
“But we know AJ is really strong already…Hmm…hey try punching the ground towards the lake like you did Knuckles.” Artie said. Applejack nodded and did just that, her punch created a massive shockwave that split the earth.
“Whoa, Hey guys…how long do you think it’ll take for Knuckles to come back down?” Tails asked but everyone shrugged.
“Ok, final training match…Rainbow Dash and Sonic.” Artie called. Rainbow Dash and Sonic snapped to their places, Dash zipped up her vest and clenched her fists; Sonic simply tapped his sneakers on the ground.
“You think you can keep up with me this time, my little pony?” Sonic joked.
“Heh, get ready to be dazzled Sonic.” Dash snapped back as she tensed up her wings.
“Ok…3…2…1…GO!” But before Dash and Sonic could start Knuckles crashed back down, Dash snickers as AJ drags him out of his crater and sits him down.
“Ok…now go.” Sonic raced at a distracted Dash but she fell backwards and hovered just inches off the ground as Sonic spinballed over her, they both took off in a blur of speed and clashed against one another.
“Whoa…I’ve only seen two others who can actually keep up with Sonic.” Knuckles said as Sonic and Dash kept at it. Dash then managed to grab Sonic but he jumped and spun like a ball tossing Dash at high speed into a tree, she bounces back and flies at high speed around Sonic.
“Try my patented Rainblow Dry!” she said as she flew so fast a rainbow colored vortex began to pick Sonic off the ground but Sonic simply created an even faster vortex going in the opposite direction and flung her into a tree back first. Everyone was quiet as Dash struggled to get up.
“C’mon, I hardly broke a sweat here. You could hardly even keep up with me when we raced and now here you can’t even keep up with me in a fight.” Sonic said.
“I…I can’t...”
“What was that?” Sonic said.
“I…can’t…lose…” Rainbow said as she punched the ground and her arm began to spark.
“Speak up, my little loser.” Sonic said going a bit too far.
“I…Can’t…Lose!” Dash clawed at the ground with her other hand as both her arms began to spark with electricity.
“Umm…Twilight…do pegisai ponies normally spark like that?” Artie asked as Twilight shook her head. Dash began to stand up and the sparking became a full blown electric storm as her rainbow colored lightning bolt shaped mark began to glow…
“I…CAN’T…LOSE!!!” she screamed as her arms and wings became enveloped with lightning, before even Sonic could react Rainbow shot towards him like lightning and punched him in the gut, flying upwards she zigzags back and forth kicking and punching him with blurring speed, she tosses him for a spin before coming back down on him and crashing into the ground like a lightning bolt creating a massive shockwave that almost blew Artie and the others away.
When the dust settled Artie and the others rush to find a groaning Sonic and Dash with the bell in her hand, she weakly chuckles as she gives the others a thumb up, Sonic’s barrier had almost shorted out due to the attack. When Dash tried to stretch out her wings she winces as her left wing snapped back down.
“Oh my Rainbow your wing is hurt, let me have a look.” Almost immediately when Fluttershy touched Dash’s wing her butterfly mark began to shine and light came off of her hands into Dash’s wing, it caused her to pull back but then Rainbow fully opened her wing.
“Hey…my wing feels all better! Thanks Fluttershy, I didn’t know you could do that.” Dash said.
“Neither did I until just now.” She said.
“This is perfect! Fluttershy, your power is your nature. You love to tend to injured animals so your power is the power of a healer, Dash, you love to fly at lightning speeds so you can attack using lightning, Applejack, being an Earth Pony and a farm girl it’s only natural that you have immense strength, Rarity, your ability with finding gemstones and your natural grace make you vastly unique to how you can fight with diamonds and Pinkie, your bouncy bubbly nature gave you the ability to jump to extreme heights with crazy speed and stomp smash with crazy power. Now all we have to do is refine your abilities and with a bit of polish none of Eggman’s mechs will be a match for you!” Artie said as Pinkie laid an arm over his shoulders and bounced up and down with him.
A few hours later Tails was working in his workshop when someone knocked on the door, as he walks up he sees its Twilight and lets her in.
“Hey Twilight, need something?” Tails asked.
“Umm yes, you told me before this…com..puter? Computer…right, you said it holds a lot of information?” she asked.
“Yeah…wait…you’re not trying to find information on how to fight, are you? Tails asked, Twilight looked side to side and blushed, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell. Artie still has a lot to learn about people’s hidden potential, I’ll even help you.”
“Thanks but…this is something I actually need to do on my own. There are two people I have to prove I can fight to…Arthur…and myself.” She said. Tails showed her how to use the computer, several hours passed as morning came and Tails found Twilight with several notebooks filled with fighting information she got off the computer, after waking her up and getting her some breakfast she left and told everyone she needed to go to Canterlot to visit Celestia when actually she was going to a place only she knows about…to train.
The days go by as Twilight goes through everything in her journals at the same time Artie is training with the others helping them bring out their abilities naturally; Twilight can already use her magic to create things but only things for non fighting situations but soon learned how to make projectiles for battle. Meanwhile Eggman was preparing his machines for the takeover of Equestria, Nightmare Moon’s robot body was being upgraded with weapons to counter Artie’s attacks. Nearly 2 weeks had passed since Twilight left for her secret training, walking through Ponyville all the other ponies watched in silence as she heads to Whitetail Lake where Artie is watching the clouds go by.
“Arthur!” she called out. Artie looked back and saw the same old looking Twilight.
“Hey Twi, long time no see. How was Canterlot?” he asked.
“I’m ready now.” Her face instantly became serious.
“Huh? Wait you don’t mean…Twilight you can’t be serious about this?” Artie asked.
“I want to be able to help my friends and if that means fighting then I’ll fight. But first…I have to prove it to you.” Twilight said.
“Twilight, you’re a smart girl but this is stu…WHOA!” Artie just barely ducked to avoid several purple shurikens, “Whoa…ok…so you seem to have picked up some new tricks….Ok…if you really wanna.” Artie pulled out the fifth bell he bought and clips it to the bottom of his vest.
“The test is gonna be the same as with the others, if you can get the bell you pass, if you can’t then it means you were never meant to fight.”

Twilight slipped on fighting gloves and took a fighting stance.
“You know I won’t go easy on you right?” Artie said.
“Wouldn’t do any good if you did anyway.” Twilight said. Artie smiled as he dashed forward and launched a punch at Twilight…who blocked it off to the side and clocked Artie in the face.
“Wait…what the?” Artie thought as Twilight kept punching roundhouse kicks him several times before double kicking him several feet away, “What the…ok…didn’t expect that.” Artie dashed again but Twilight used her teleporting ability to close in on him with a flying kick which he barely dodged, he spun around with a kick but Twilight blocked and grabbed his leg and swung him around and tossed him.
“Wait…am I getting clocked by Twilight?” Artie growled as he went back to fighting. In the bushes Fluttershy watches the fight quietly but doesn’t notice Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Spike hiding next to her.
“EEP! What are you doing here?” she squeaked.
“We knew Twilight was gonna try and fight Artie, that’s why she left in the first place.” Rainbow Dash said.
“That’s right sugarcube, we ain’t letting no friend of ours fight alone.” Applejack said. Twilight gets smacked in the face but counters with a kick to Artie’s gut, Twilight concentrated magic in her horn and launched a large volley of magic shurikens at Artie who runs like crazy to dodge them.
“You know shuriken are not going to be effective against a fast moving enemy right?” Artie shouted. Twilight smirked as she pictured in her mind a weapon she saw in one of Tails’s notebooks, she then creates two gatling guns on her shoulders and rapid fires magic bullets, Artie had to dive behind a rock to avoid being shot.
“Dang…I never knew she could do anything like this. Why am I so happy that she’s proving me wrong?” Just then the rock exploded from the constant gunfire. Twilight stood looking confident as she created a bo-staff with magic.
“I gotta hand it to you Twilight…you’re actually giving me a surprising run for my money.” He reaches back and pulls out his special boken, “Looks like I’m going to have to work a bit harder.”
Twilight runs forward and attacks with her staff, Artie swing but she teleports behind him and smacks his legs, then smacks him in the face, twirling the staff side to side hitting him multiple times before taking a home run swing at him, sending him flying.
“Whoa…is that really Twilight?” Spike asked.
“Alright…try this!” Artie swung at a rock and sent it flying at Twilight who jumped a little bit too late as it nicked her left hoof, she then ran with surprising speed at Artie and jumped at him, he swung upwards but she landed on his boken and launched herself upwards, she then gathered a lot of magic and then created a massive weight and sent it down on Artie! He swung as hard as he could against it but it forced him into the ground, he leaned to the side just enough to deflect himself out from under the weight but it created a huge hole in the ground as water started to pool in it. Twilight landed on the bottom of the hole as Artie had the high ground.
“Ha…hahaha….HAHAHAHAHA! Amazing Twilight, I had no idea you’d actually do this well.” Artie tightened his grip on his boken which made a strange purple flame appear around it, “This is why this boken is special and when it’s like this it can only mean one thing….it’s time I really got serious.”
The other ponies didn’t even notice Princess Celestia and Luna next to them…
“GAH, What are you doing here?” They all shouted but before Celestia could answer there was a huge gust of wind from the hole in the ground as Twilight and Artie clashed, his flaming boken easily breaks her magic made weapons and because it flows much like Celestia’s mane it can block her long range shots. She then got an idea and ran towards him, he’s about to take a swing at her but then she teleports behind him, he spins around but she teleports again and kicked him from the front, warps to the side and punched him in the face, warps to the other side and uppercuts him before warping one last time and smash kicking him away.
“Ok…I think it’s time I finally prove you are not gonna fight with us against Eggman!” Artie slammed his boken on the water in the hole, creating a huge tidal wave, Twilight focused…remembering one of the moves she practiced for this…then she created one shuriken, which split into another and another and another.
“Replicating Technique: I believe this is called MultiShadow Shuriken Storm!” Tens of hundreds of shurikens fly toward the wave, breaking it up then descending on Artie who tried to dodge and block them all but there was too many to avoid and he ended up nearly getting dragged under and sliced. The shurikens created a huge plume of water and hid Twilight as she readied her last move, Artie came out of the plume of water skidding across the shore line, Twilight then launched at him from above with spheres of concentrated magic in both her palms, the girls held their breath as Artie reared back and swung forward, both his flaming boken and Twilight’s attack created a massive shockwave.
“I had to be here. I felt I had to be here for Twilight. Brace yourselves here it comes!” Celestia said. Artie was really giving his all during the clash and so was Twilight, she grit her teeth as something began to change in her…her eyes suddenly became a bright red, her purple coat turned an instant white and her mane and tail both turned to fire! The purple magic in her palms suddenly became powerful fireballs which began pushing Artie back with insane power! Artie closes his eyes and flashes back to the days when Tails and Sonic found him then to his days training with the team.
“You never cease to surprise me Twilight.” He thought as Twilight growled then let out a powerful roar as light blinded the others and a split second later there was a huge explosion that was felt all the way back at Ponyville.
An hour later after the battle a battle worn Twilight wakes up leaning against a tree with her clothes torn and ripped from the explosion, everyone was standing around her including Celestia and Artie looking as scuffed as she is, then she realizes she doesn’t have the bell.
“Oh no…even though I worked so hard to master those techniques I still failed…I’m sorry everyone…” Suddenly Artie tossed the bell into her lap.
“As far as I’m concerned, you earned it Twilight. You sure as hell surprised me today. HAHAHAHA!” Artie said as he held up his destroyed boken, “Well so much for that…hehehe.”
“Twilight I’m so very proud of you. You’ve become so strong my star pupil.” Celestia said.
Twilight was so happy she hopped up and cheered but then Artie and Spike’s faces went bright red…Rarity nudged Twilight and pointed down toward her chest and Twilight blushed bright red and then screamed as she covered her chest with her arms…

Running for a few hours Artie and the team finally reach the doors to Canterlot just as the sun was setting, but the moment the sun dropped past the mountain that Canterlot was on…*BOOM BOOMBOOM*…Eggman began the attack on the city.
“Oh good heavens! The Castle is on fire!” Rarity shrieked.
“This is bad….REALLY REALLY BAD! Cmon everybody we gotta hustle NOW!” Artie took off with everyone close behind.

As they enter the gates they are greeted my dozens of Eggmechs, the team scratch their hooves against the ground and crack their knuckles then take off towards them, dodging their shots left and right, Artie jumped up and double kicked one in the face, grabbed its gun and kicked it off the elbow and shot several other mechs, Knuckles and Applejack were bashing mechs left and right, stood side by side they even punched the same mech in the face, Pinkie was following Artie’s example and jumping on mechs but for some reason her hits were much harder than Artie’s, Rarity was using her gracefulness to effortlessly dodge the shots while Twilight hurled huge rocks at them with her telekinesis, Tails protected Fluttershy by shorting out any mechs that came close. As they continued on towards the castle they get a shocking sight….
The town is in shambles and ponies are scrambling to escape, but there are white pegasi ponies with gold armor trying to push open the door to the castle.
“Sirs, what happened here?” Twilight asked.
“Some kind of strange mare covered in metal armor attacked the city and nothing we did could stop her not even slow her down. We think she might be after the Princesses!”
“We’re not gonna let that happen! Applejack, Knuckles, bust open the door.” Artie and the guards stepped back from the door as Knuckles and AJ stepped forward, AJ turned around and stood on all fours as Knuckles summoned explosive power in his right fist, at the same time Knuckles punched with the power of a small explosion and AJ bucked the door and it swung right open. Artie and the other rushed in only to see Princess Celestia scream out in pain with a feminine figure with flowing hair and tail just like Celestia’s only it looked like a starry night sky with a small fireball floating in her raised hand standing before her. Celestia hit the floor with a thud as her flowing mane and tail stopped flowing…
“PRINCESS CELESTIA!!!” Everyone screamed as Artie rushed forward in a rage at the attacker, but with a swift swing of the arm the mare backhanded Artie across the throne room, flying over Twilight and the others before landing with a crash. Then Twilight and the others heard a familiar evil laugh as the armored mare turns around and faces them…
“No…it can’t be…NIGHTMARE MOON!” Twilight screamed as the others picked up Artie.
“Mwahahaha, I see you meddlesome fillies still remember me. I’m flattered.” She said.
“What have you done to the Princess?!” Rarity demanded.
“Oh nothing much, I just stripped her of her ‘sun magic’. And there’s nothing you foals can do about it!” She laughed.
“You look…shiny now?” Pinkie asked.
“Oh yes, thanks to my new ally, Dr. Eggman for giving me this new body. I am now…Metal Nightmare Moon, your feeble Elements of Harmony are useless against me now. Now BEGONE!” Her black mane flew forward like a powerful wind blowing everyone but Artie out the door and slammed it shut; the force of the slam made debris fall against it and bar it shut.
“Hmm? You are new…I’m surprised you weren’t blown away with those fillies. You intrigue me young colt.” M. Nightmare said.
“Yeah well, I seem to have that effect on ponies.” Artie said as he staggers to his hooves, “But…just to make a little note...try a different kind of shampoo. Phew…”
“Hmph...You’re either a very brave or a very foolish colt. Well then…I’ve yet to truly test my powers in this new body…” Before Artie could react she was already in front of him with her hand gently grabbing his chin, lifting up to meet her piercing eyes, “How would you like to help me, little colt?” With a quick lift she tosses Artie like a rag.

Wings as huge as Celestia’s sprang from her back, small but powerful jets fired and lifted her off the ground, surrounding herself with her magic turning herself into a black fireball…she blasted forward with blinding speed leaving a trail of black fire in her wake, Artie had just enough time to jump out of the way but she stopped on a dime and pulled a 180 and shot back at him from behind, he had just barely managed to leap backwards over her but her black flame scorched one of his hooves. She stopped again but only much sooner and doubled back again before Artie could fully land, he held out his hands to catch Metal Nightmare Moon and stop her but she flew right into him and kept on going, he tried holding her back but she just pushed him into a wall, grabbed him by the throat and hurled him across the room. Artie landed on his hooves and rushed Metal Nightmare with a roundhouse kick to her head but she just stepped back and avoided being hit, but a spark suddenly came off her cheek. She kicked him back with immense force and sent him skidding across the ground; she feels her cheek and finds a small gash in the metal.
“You’re no ordinary colt….” She growled as her mane and tail lashed out at Artie, he leapt off the ground and dodges the whip like attacks with stunning speed, “You’re quite fast for a young colt…” Artie tripped and M. Nightmare saw her chance to catch him with her mane and tail, wrapped him up and squeezed him before swinging him around and into a wall, “But nowhere near powerful enough to stop me.” Metal Nightmare dashed at him but Artie got up, cocked a fist back and launched it into Nightmare’s face sending her reeling, he then leapt at her with hooves forward and double kicked her, stomping her into the floor, grabbing a leg he swung her around and around and tossed her into a pile of burning pillars.
He fell to his knees exhausted and beaten up badly as Metal Nightmare Moon just walks out of the fire, “Hmm…what makes you think you can stop somepony like me? Compared to your feeble power, I’m a goddess…” She walks to him and grabs him by the throat…
Outside the others are beating on the door when Tails looks behind himself and sees a familiar blue streak.
“Everyone move out of the way! NOW!” Just as Tails finished that sentence a sonic boom erupted as a spinning spiked ball rockets into the door, destroying it completely, flying forward more and slicing off Metal Nightmare’s arm off like a buzzsaw, “GAHHHH, YOU BLASTED RODENT!” Just then a rainbow colored sonic boom erupted out of nowhere and a rainbow streak flew through the hole in the door toward Metal Nightmare and smashed her in the face at sonic speed sending her flying and through a wall.
“ARTIE! You ok pal?” Sonic asked helping Artie to his hooves.
“Sonic…man am I glad to see you and Dash…You gotta get Nightmare she took the Princess Celestia’s magic!” Artie wheezed. Metal Nightmare Moon using her telekinesis brings her arm back to her and reattaches it.
“Hmph…I see more modifications are needed to be made to my new body. I see me and my allies plan are not in any danger with your feeble powers.” With that she cloaks herself in her magic and vanishes with Celestia’s magic. Artie stomps the ground in frustration…
Several hours pass before Celestia finally wakes up, everyone is huddled around her with worried looks; Luna cried and hugged her big sister.
“Princess Celestia, are you ok?” Twilight asked.
“Ohh…y...yes…but I feel…weak…ooh…I fought Nightmare Moon with everything I had but…but her new form gave her a vast advantage…” Celestia said.
“Sister, your mane…its stopped flowing…Nightmare Moon stole your magic.” Luna said fighting through the tears. Suddenly a bandaged up Artie punches the wall…
“Grrr…I was there…right there…and I couldn’t stop her…gahh!!” Artie growled.
“Arthur, you have no reason to be angry with yourself. Nightmare Moon is just far too powerful. The only reason she stole my magic is because she knows I was her greatest threat. I was strong enough to defeat her but her new body threw me off…” Celestia said.
“No your highness…I do have a reason to be angry at myself. I couldn’t stop her from taking your powers…because she’s right…I’m just a weak colt…even Sonic couldn’t stop her. Even after cutting off an arm she just put it back on…but we got bigger problems now.” Artie said.
“Yes, without your magic you can’t raise the sun anymore.” Twilight said.
“Not to worry my faithful student, I made several precautions if such a thing happened to me. In my chamber is a ‘sun gem’ under my bed, all it needs is some of Luna’s magic and it will raise the sun and moon in perfect time. It already has a portion of my magic so it’s ready for yours Luna.” Celestia said.
“Ok sister, Arthur…promise you’ll get my sister’s magic back…please?” Luna asked.
“……I don’t know how we’re gonna do it…but…I promise we’ll get Celestia’s magic back.” Artie said hiding his hurt fist.
“Umm…if it’s ok…I’d like to stay here and help take care of the Princess.” Fluttershy asked.
“Ok Fluttershy, come back to Ponyville when you’re ready.” Artie said, “Get some rest Princess, you’ve been through a lot tonight. I got some thinking to do…” Later as the Royal Guards offered to give everyone a ride back to Ponyville, everyone but Artie takes the offer.
“Artie, are you feeling alright?” Twilight asked.
“Yeah…I just need to do some serious thinking is all.” After the others take to the sky Artie begins the long walk back to Ponyville thinking about what to do, “Hmm…they’ve all been saying that I BEAT Silver Sonic…but how can that be possible when I couldn’t even beat Nightmare Moon…alright…I need to train…get stronger……yeah…”
It was morning when Artie got back to Ponyville; Luna must have used the sun gem Celestia mentioned because the sun rose. There were just a few other ponies out at this hour so he asked them where a good secluded spot was and they all mentioned a lone lake in the Whitetail Woods. After getting first aid material because he was still healing and nursing a busted arm he headed to the lake, an hour later Twilight, Sonic and the others were looking for Artie since he wasn’t at Tails’s workshop. Twilight ran up to a bright green unicorn filly with a harp on her hip and a soft peach colored filly with a candy mark on her hip.
“Lyra, Bonbon! Have you seen a silver colt with a black mane anywhere?” Twilight asked.
“Oh you mean that…hehehe…handsome colt that was here this morning? He said he was looking for a secluded spot to go to.” Lyra said.
“Yeah he looked pretty beat up, he was covered in bandages. Last I saw of the hunky colt he was heading towards Whitetail Lake…though I’m not really into colts but he was pretty attractive.” Bonbon said looking at Lyra in somewhat of a sexy way. Twilight gathered the others and headed to Whitetail Lake and once they arrive they find Artie unconscious on the ground with his forearms wrapped in bandages. A while later they manage to wake him up and he’s stunned that they found him…
“Wha…what are you guys doing here?” he asked.
“Looking for you silly.” Pinkie said.
“What in tarnation are you doin out here all by yer lonesome?” Applejack asked.
“Hah…I hoped you guys wouldn’t find me…I wanted to train by myself. So I can get stronger to fight and beat Nightmare Moon…” he answered.
“Well you’re still in no condition to do any sort of thing.” Rarity said.
“Rarity is right Artie, if you’re going to train at least do it when you’re healed…and let us help you train.” Tails said.
“Wait? Wha?”
“Yeah we know how you feel Artie and we want to help you train.” Sonic said as Knuckles, Amy and Tails nod in agreement. Artie nodded and a week later he begins his training with Sonic and the others, Sonic drove Artie on a full speed run through the entire Whitetail Woods, Knuckles laid small heavy rocks on Artie’s back as he did pushups, Tails was working on something special for Artie and Amy helped by teaching him some of her old boxing moves and swinging her PikoPiko Hammer against him to help him take a huge hit and keep standing, Knuckles also helped with his fighting skills by teaching him some of his own martial arts. At the end of every day for the next 3 weeks they brought home a very exhausted Artie but as time went on Artie was walking back home without the others carrying him. His final test was to fight Sonic, Amy and Knuckles at the same time with his new weapon, a special made boken, at the end of the day Artie and the others were heading back to Ponyville, all of them pretty scuffed up.
Walking through Ponyville many of the fillies jaw dropped when they saw the new Artie, his muscles were more developed, you could see a clear definition of his muscles on is arms, he now has a subtle sixpack outlined under his shirt. Even Twilight and the other girls jaws dropped, even Fluttershy’s!
“Hoowee Artie, I reckon you might be able to beat Big Macintosh with a body looking like that.” Applejack said.
“Wow…the difference is amazing. I heard you were fighting Sonic and the others as a test, how did it go?” Twilight asked. Sonic and the others looked at one another then answered…
“He beat us.” They all said in sync, Artie is standing between them with a smug look and chuckling.
“Wow, Artie…you look hot!” Applebloom said resulting in AJ bonking her on the head.
“Umm…hehehe…thanks...I guess…” Artie blushed, “But it’s still gonna be a very hard fight with just me, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy.”
“Well….what if we help too?” Pinkie asked.
“Well, I don’t think the others would like…”
“Landsakes Artie, we’d all be happy ta help.” Applejack said.
“Yeah, anyone who wants to turn our home into a giant theme park is gonna have to go through me!” Rainbow said.
“I’ll help too…just don’t expect me to fight…” Rarity said being dainty as usual.
“I...I can help with medicine if anypony gets hurt while stopping that bad Eggman.” Fluttershy said.
“I don’t know what I could do; maybe help learn about the enemy maybe?” Twilight said.
“Artie, I have an idea. Come here…” Tails took Artie aside from the others, “Artie, I think they might have hidden abilities…much like you did that first night.”
“What makes you think that?” Artie asked. Tails then showed a recording of what Artie did that night and he caught what Tails meant, “Ohh I see, you think the things I did are the same things the girls are capable of?”
“Right, we just need a way to bring out their hidden abilities…” Tails said.
“I think I got the perfect method…” Artie said as he walked over to the others, “Ok Tails and I have an idea; you all are going to go through special training much like I did. Tails believes the things I did on the first night we arrived here might be the same things you all can do but we need a way to draw them out. Meet us at Whitetail Lake in three days, in that time I want all of you to be thinking of what your best known for and how that can tie in with what I did that night.”
As time passed Artie went to a store in Ponyville that sold small bells that can be tied on strings and bought five of them, Tails worked on making special items to replace Amy’s hammer and dull Sonic’s spines and Knuckles spiked fists.
Three days has passed and the ponies meet up at the lake, Artie and the others are already there waiting.
“Good, you all came. Now here’s how your training will work…” Sonic, Knuckles, Amy and Tails each held out a single bell on a string, “This is what’s called ‘The Bell Test’, the object of the test is for you to take the bells from us in any way you can think of. I warn you, we’re not going to go easy on you because you’re girls or our friends; this test is designed to take you to your limits and bring out your hidden abilities. Dash, Applejack, Pinkie….and Rarity, you’re going to be fighting Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Amy.” Artie explained.
“Wait…I understand Fluttershy not fighting…but why didn’t you call me?” Twilight asked.
“Well…it’s obvious Twilight…you don’t have any fighting capabilities. You’re like Tails…”
“HEY!” Tails snapped at Artie.
“The intelligent type, sure you can read all about fighting and stuff but if you were to go and fight one of Eggman’s machines…hate to say it but you wouldn’t stand a chance. Dash, AJ, Pinkie and Rarity are the ones who may have the same abilities I used that night. So I’m afraid you have to sit this out…” Artie said. Twilight sighed because he was right, so she began thinking of how to change that.
“Alright first up is Pinkie and Tails.” Pinkie bounds over to the lakeside and Tails hovers over as well, “Pinkie, you and the others have until sundown to get the bells. If you don’t, then we’ll have to do this again and again until you do.”
“Okie dokie lokie!” she said not taking this seriously. Tails got in a fighting stance with his tails at the ready.
“Ok…3…2…1…GO!” Pinkie bounds over to Tails as calmly as possible as Tails jets forward using his tails as a propeller, zooming past Pinkie, she giggles as she bounces after him like it’s a game instead of training.
“Oi…this isn’t working…there’s gotta be some way to make her take this seriously…” Amy said as Tails took to the air, much higher than Pinkie can jump. Just then Artie gets an idea…
“HEY Pinkie!”
“Yeah?” she asked turning around still jumping up and down.
“If you don’t get the bell by sundown……then NO MORE PARTIES IN PONYVILLE…PERMANENTLY!” The second Artie said that Twilight and the others gasped as Pinkie stopped jumping.
“No…more….parties…..NO NEVER, I WILL NEVER LET THAT HAPPEN EVER EVER EVER!!!!!” Just then her cutie mark on her hip began to glow as she crouched down low and then…jumped up and shot off like a rocket skyward with so much force the jump shattered the ground, she crashed into Tails then came back down hard on him, slamming him into the ground with insane force sending a dirt cloud upwards. As the dust cleared everyone saw Pinkie holding the bell, looking triumphant…
“Umm…I think I broke Tails…” she looked back at the crater she made and saw Tails’s head spring upward…
“Wow, I certainly wasn’t expecting that.” Twilight and the girls shrieked when Tails’s voice came from behind them, “What? Like Artie said, I haven’t fought since the incident with Emerl so I made a machine of myself to do it instead, but wow…Pinkie you surprised me.”
“Surprised all of us really…Ok, next up is Rarity and Amy.” Artie pulls Amy aside and whispers in her ear, “Think of something to tick her off like I did with Pinkie.” Amy then gets a sly grin as she walked to the lake side with a toy hammer.
“Hmph, darling, don’t you think this is a bit rash? I mean we’re both ladies of fashion so why bother fighting…” Rarity asked.
“Because your clothing style stinks.” Amy said. Twilight and the others looked in stunned silence as Rarity begins to growl.
“What did you say?” she asked.
“You heard me,” twirling her hammer like an umbrella, “Your designs suck and your sense of fashion is way outta wack.” Amy almost didn’t have time to duck as Rarity came charging at her with a pirouetting roundhouse kick.
“HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY DESIGNS!” Rarity shouted as she continued attacking, slapping and kicking Amy while using her natural grace to dodge Amy’s swings. Rarity then grabbed Amy’s dress and tore the skirt clean off, causing Artie and the guys to blush brighter than Knuckles is red.
“Wha…wha…wha….OOOOHHHHHHH, NO ONE RUINS MY DRESS LIKE THAT NOBODY!!!!!!” Amy threw away the toy hammer and brought out her PikoPiko Hammer and took a swing at Rarity, things seemed to move in slow motion as Rarity’s diamond shaped marks began to glow, her horn began to shine as a large diamond pillar shot out of the ground in front of Rarity and blocked Amy’s hammer.
“I knew it! She does have that diamond pillar ability!” Artie said. As the fight continued Rarity discovered she could control where the pillars come from and at what angle with her hands and hooves so now she can incorporate those movements into her dance moves, with just a thought she can launch several smaller diamond missiles at Amy and if she concentrates enough she can fire three huge diamond missiles at her. After a while both Amy and Rarity were exhausted but Rarity had an ace up her designer sleeve.
“Well I think this has dragged on long enough. Time to finish this so the others have plenty of time for their tests.” Rarity said as her horn began to shine brightly, she began pirouetting faster and faster as hundreds of diamonds shot up out of the ground, flying around her upwards in a spiral, “Get ready for Rarity’s Diamond Tornado!” In a split second the hundreds of diamonds became thousands as they formed a massive tornado, diamond shards struck Amy as they bounced off a barrier Tails had made for everyone and lifting her up the vortex, with an upward swing of her horn Rarity slices the tornado in half and makes it explode. Amy falls as the bell she had flies toward Rarity’s hand as Amy crashes into the ground.
“Wow…good thinking with those barriers Tails.” Sonic said.
“Yeah...ehhehe, though that was a lot more damage than I thought it could take.” Tails said. Rarity walked over to Amy and helped her up.
“Ok so Artie told me to…”
“I know. You had to do something to get me to actually fight you; I never knew I had that kind of power within me. It’s quite exhilarating really!” Rarity said.
“Just think Rarity, with more training you can probably create an even more dazzling and more powerful move. Ok next up is Applejack and Knuckles.” Artie said. AJ and Knuckles got in position, Knuckles is wearing special gloves that guard against his fist spikes stabbing Applejack.
“Hey Applejack, this is for making me harvest all those apples against my will.” Knuckles said as he smacks his fists together.
“Well this wouldn’t be fun if yer wernt really tryin.” Applejack said as she stomped the ground making cracks under her hooves.
“Oh boy…hey guys…who do you thinks gonna win? AJ or Knux?” Artie asked. Sonic and the others looked at each other then answer…
“Applejack.” Knuckles falls out of his fighting stance in embarrassment.
“OH THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT GUYS!!!” Knuckles screamed.
“Ok , 321 GO!” Artie shouted. Applejack charged forward and kicked at Knuckles who easily blocked it but his left foot dug into the ground with the hit.
“Heh, not bad.” Knuckles smirked.
“Oh you aint seen nuthin yet!” With just a little flex of her leg muscles she dragged Knuckles across the ground before sending him flying, “Years of applebuckin.” Knuckles dives into the ground and pops up under AJ, uppercutting her in the gut but AJ stood her ground, grabbed his arm and swung him into a boulder, she jumped after him with a kick coming at him. Knuckles ducks and AJ keeps going, her kick actually shatters the boulder.
A few hours later AJ and Knuckles are still going at it strong, the lake shore looks like a warzone…
“Yawn…how long has this fight been going?” Artie asked. Tails looked at this watch…
“Three hours….” Tails said.
“Wow…AJ’s got some energy.” Artie laughed.
“It’s probably from that one time she tried to handle applebuck season all by herself. She slept for a week afterwards…” Twilight said.
“Oh yeah, it was because she was too proud to even ask for help.” Rainbow said making a weird face.
“Hah…hah…hah…hey Knuckles…”
“Yeah?”
“I reckon we oughta finish this little throwdown soon before the others fall asleep…” Applejack said.
“Yeah, lets…” Knuckles said as he cracked his knuckles. Everybody stood up knowing Applejack could show her hidden power. Suddenly Applejack lassoed Knuckles and yanks him in her direction, time seemed to slow down as AJ tightened her right arms muscles and her apple mark began to glow. Just as Knuckles got in punching range Applejack let out an earthshattering punch against Knuckles’ barrier, Applejack’s legs digging into the ground as Knuckles shoots up over the clouds and the bell drops into Applejacks hand.
“Ehehehe...I think we found the Tsunade of Ponyworld…” Artie said.
“Dude…did you just make a Naruto reference?” Sonic asked as Artie nodded.
“But we know AJ is really strong already…Hmm…hey try punching the ground towards the lake like you did Knuckles.” Artie said. Applejack nodded and did just that, her punch created a massive shockwave that split the earth.
“Whoa, Hey guys…how long do you think it’ll take for Knuckles to come back down?” Tails asked but everyone shrugged.
“Ok, final training match…Rainbow Dash and Sonic.” Artie called. Rainbow Dash and Sonic snapped to their places, Dash zipped up her vest and clenched her fists; Sonic simply tapped his sneakers on the ground.
“You think you can keep up with me this time, my little pony?” Sonic joked.
“Heh, get ready to be dazzled Sonic.” Dash snapped back as she tensed up her wings.
“Ok…3…2…1…GO!” But before Dash and Sonic could start Knuckles crashed back down, Dash snickers as AJ drags him out of his crater and sits him down.
“Ok…now go.” Sonic raced at a distracted Dash but she fell backwards and hovered just inches off the ground as Sonic spinballed over her, they both took off in a blur of speed and clashed against one another.
“Whoa…I’ve only seen two others who can actually keep up with Sonic.” Knuckles said as Sonic and Dash kept at it. Dash then managed to grab Sonic but he jumped and spun like a ball tossing Dash at high speed into a tree, she bounces back and flies at high speed around Sonic.
“Try my patented Rainblow Dry!” she said as she flew so fast a rainbow colored vortex began to pick Sonic off the ground but Sonic simply created an even faster vortex going in the opposite direction and flung her into a tree back first. Everyone was quiet as Dash struggled to get up.
“C’mon, I hardly broke a sweat here. You could hardly even keep up with me when we raced and now here you can’t even keep up with me in a fight.” Sonic said.
“I…I can’t...”
“What was that?” Sonic said.
“I…can’t…lose…” Rainbow said as she punched the ground and her arm began to spark.
“Speak up, my little loser.” Sonic said going a bit too far.
“I…Can’t…Lose!” Dash clawed at the ground with her other hand as both her arms began to spark with electricity.
“Umm…Twilight…do pegisai ponies normally spark like that?” Artie asked as Twilight shook her head. Dash began to stand up and the sparking became a full blown electric storm as her rainbow colored lightning bolt shaped mark began to glow…
“I…CAN’T…LOSE!!!” she screamed as her arms and wings became enveloped with lightning, before even Sonic could react Rainbow shot towards him like lightning and punched him in the gut, flying upwards she zigzags back and forth kicking and punching him with blurring speed, she tosses him for a spin before coming back down on him and crashing into the ground like a lightning bolt creating a massive shockwave that almost blew Artie and the others away.
When the dust settled Artie and the others rush to find a groaning Sonic and Dash with the bell in her hand, she weakly chuckles as she gives the others a thumb up, Sonic’s barrier had almost shorted out due to the attack. When Dash tried to stretch out her wings she winces as her left wing snapped back down.
“Oh my Rainbow your wing is hurt, let me have a look.” Almost immediately when Fluttershy touched Dash’s wing her butterfly mark began to shine and light came off of her hands into Dash’s wing, it caused her to pull back but then Rainbow fully opened her wing.
“Hey…my wing feels all better! Thanks Fluttershy, I didn’t know you could do that.” Dash said.
“Neither did I until just now.” She said.
“This is perfect! Fluttershy, your power is your nature. You love to tend to injured animals so your power is the power of a healer, Dash, you love to fly at lightning speeds so you can attack using lightning, Applejack, being an Earth Pony and a farm girl it’s only natural that you have immense strength, Rarity, your ability with finding gemstones and your natural grace make you vastly unique to how you can fight with diamonds and Pinkie, your bouncy bubbly nature gave you the ability to jump to extreme heights with crazy speed and stomp smash with crazy power. Now all we have to do is refine your abilities and with a bit of polish none of Eggman’s mechs will be a match for you!” Artie said as Pinkie laid an arm over his shoulders and bounced up and down with him.
A few hours later Tails was working in his workshop when someone knocked on the door, as he walks up he sees its Twilight and lets her in.
“Hey Twilight, need something?” Tails asked.
“Umm yes, you told me before this…com..puter? Computer…right, you said it holds a lot of information?” she asked.
“Yeah…wait…you’re not trying to find information on how to fight, are you? Tails asked, Twilight looked side to side and blushed, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell. Artie still has a lot to learn about people’s hidden potential, I’ll even help you.”
“Thanks but…this is something I actually need to do on my own. There are two people I have to prove I can fight to…Arthur…and myself.” She said. Tails showed her how to use the computer, several hours passed as morning came and Tails found Twilight with several notebooks filled with fighting information she got off the computer, after waking her up and getting her some breakfast she left and told everyone she needed to go to Canterlot to visit Celestia when actually she was going to a place only she knows about…to train.
The days go by as Twilight goes through everything in her journals at the same time Artie is training with the others helping them bring out their abilities naturally; Twilight can already use her magic to create things but only things for non fighting situations but soon learned how to make projectiles for battle. Meanwhile Eggman was preparing his machines for the takeover of Equestria, Nightmare Moon’s robot body was being upgraded with weapons to counter Artie’s attacks. Nearly 2 weeks had passed since Twilight left for her secret training, walking through Ponyville all the other ponies watched in silence as she heads to Whitetail Lake where Artie is watching the clouds go by.
“Arthur!” she called out. Artie looked back and saw the same old looking Twilight.
“Hey Twi, long time no see. How was Canterlot?” he asked.
“I’m ready now.” Her face instantly became serious.
“Huh? Wait you don’t mean…Twilight you can’t be serious about this?” Artie asked.
“I want to be able to help my friends and if that means fighting then I’ll fight. But first…I have to prove it to you.” Twilight said.
“Twilight, you’re a smart girl but this is stu…WHOA!” Artie just barely ducked to avoid several purple shurikens, “Whoa…ok…so you seem to have picked up some new tricks….Ok…if you really wanna.” Artie pulled out the fifth bell he bought and clips it to the bottom of his vest.
“The test is gonna be the same as with the others, if you can get the bell you pass, if you can’t then it means you were never meant to fight.”

Twilight slipped on fighting gloves and took a fighting stance.
“You know I won’t go easy on you right?” Artie said.
“Wouldn’t do any good if you did anyway.” Twilight said. Artie smiled as he dashed forward and launched a punch at Twilight…who blocked it off to the side and clocked Artie in the face.
“Wait…what the?” Artie thought as Twilight kept punching roundhouse kicks him several times before double kicking him several feet away, “What the…ok…didn’t expect that.” Artie dashed again but Twilight used her teleporting ability to close in on him with a flying kick which he barely dodged, he spun around with a kick but Twilight blocked and grabbed his leg and swung him around and tossed him.
“Wait…am I getting clocked by Twilight?” Artie growled as he went back to fighting. In the bushes Fluttershy watches the fight quietly but doesn’t notice Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Spike hiding next to her.
“EEP! What are you doing here?” she squeaked.
“We knew Twilight was gonna try and fight Artie, that’s why she left in the first place.” Rainbow Dash said.
“That’s right sugarcube, we ain’t letting no friend of ours fight alone.” Applejack said. Twilight gets smacked in the face but counters with a kick to Artie’s gut, Twilight concentrated magic in her horn and launched a large volley of magic shurikens at Artie who runs like crazy to dodge them.
“You know shuriken are not going to be effective against a fast moving enemy right?” Artie shouted. Twilight smirked as she pictured in her mind a weapon she saw in one of Tails’s notebooks, she then creates two gatling guns on her shoulders and rapid fires magic bullets, Artie had to dive behind a rock to avoid being shot.
“Dang…I never knew she could do anything like this. Why am I so happy that she’s proving me wrong?” Just then the rock exploded from the constant gunfire. Twilight stood looking confident as she created a bo-staff with magic.
“I gotta hand it to you Twilight…you’re actually giving me a surprising run for my money.” He reaches back and pulls out his special boken, “Looks like I’m going to have to work a bit harder.”
Twilight runs forward and attacks with her staff, Artie swing but she teleports behind him and smacks his legs, then smacks him in the face, twirling the staff side to side hitting him multiple times before taking a home run swing at him, sending him flying.
“Whoa…is that really Twilight?” Spike asked.
“Alright…try this!” Artie swung at a rock and sent it flying at Twilight who jumped a little bit too late as it nicked her left hoof, she then ran with surprising speed at Artie and jumped at him, he swung upwards but she landed on his boken and launched herself upwards, she then gathered a lot of magic and then created a massive weight and sent it down on Artie! He swung as hard as he could against it but it forced him into the ground, he leaned to the side just enough to deflect himself out from under the weight but it created a huge hole in the ground as water started to pool in it. Twilight landed on the bottom of the hole as Artie had the high ground.
“Ha…hahaha….HAHAHAHAHA! Amazing Twilight, I had no idea you’d actually do this well.” Artie tightened his grip on his boken which made a strange purple flame appear around it, “This is why this boken is special and when it’s like this it can only mean one thing….it’s time I really got serious.”
The other ponies didn’t even notice Princess Celestia and Luna next to them…
“GAH, What are you doing here?” They all shouted but before Celestia could answer there was a huge gust of wind from the hole in the ground as Twilight and Artie clashed, his flaming boken easily breaks her magic made weapons and because it flows much like Celestia’s mane it can block her long range shots. She then got an idea and ran towards him, he’s about to take a swing at her but then she teleports behind him, he spins around but she teleports again and kicked him from the front, warps to the side and punched him in the face, warps to the other side and uppercuts him before warping one last time and smash kicking him away.
“Ok…I think it’s time I finally prove you are not gonna fight with us against Eggman!” Artie slammed his boken on the water in the hole, creating a huge tidal wave, Twilight focused…remembering one of the moves she practiced for this…then she created one shuriken, which split into another and another and another.
“Replicating Technique: I believe this is called MultiShadow Shuriken Storm!” Tens of hundreds of shurikens fly toward the wave, breaking it up then descending on Artie who tried to dodge and block them all but there was too many to avoid and he ended up nearly getting dragged under and sliced. The shurikens created a huge plume of water and hid Twilight as she readied her last move, Artie came out of the plume of water skidding across the shore line, Twilight then launched at him from above with spheres of concentrated magic in both her palms, the girls held their breath as Artie reared back and swung forward, both his flaming boken and Twilight’s attack created a massive shockwave.
“I had to be here. I felt I had to be here for Twilight. Brace yourselves here it comes!” Celestia said. Artie was really giving his all during the clash and so was Twilight, she grit her teeth as something began to change in her…her eyes suddenly became a bright red, her purple coat turned an instant white and her mane and tail both turned to fire! The purple magic in her palms suddenly became powerful fireballs which began pushing Artie back with insane power! Artie closes his eyes and flashes back to the days when Tails and Sonic found him then to his days training with the team.
“You never cease to surprise me Twilight.” He thought as Twilight growled then let out a powerful roar as light blinded the others and a split second later there was a huge explosion that was felt all the way back at Ponyville.
An hour later after the battle a battle worn Twilight wakes up leaning against a tree with her clothes torn and ripped from the explosion, everyone was standing around her including Celestia and Artie looking as scuffed as she is, then she realizes she doesn’t have the bell.
“Oh no…even though I worked so hard to master those techniques I still failed…I’m sorry everyone…” Suddenly Artie tossed the bell into her lap.
“As far as I’m concerned, you earned it Twilight. You sure as hell surprised me today. HAHAHAHA!” Artie said as he held up his destroyed boken, “Well so much for that…hehehe.”
“Twilight I’m so very proud of you. You’ve become so strong my star pupil.” Celestia said.
Twilight was so happy she hopped up and cheered but then Artie and Spike’s faces went bright red…Rarity nudged Twilight and pointed down toward her chest and Twilight blushed bright red and then screamed as she covered her chest with her arms…
