The Behemoth Sized Party Cake Pincushion
The Party Cake Behemoth Pin Cushion is all done and ready to be used for its intended function :'D Although I had wanted to get grounded walnut shells to sharpen the needles with, it would've been like three to four bags to fill it with. So I plan on making 'cupcakes' soon for that purpose. For now, I'm stupidly happy with how it came out and will be hunting for the doll jointing needle for it X3

Oh man thank you :'D My best advice for making a pincushion like this one is having a solid insert on the bottom (I used left over cardboard from my bristol paper pad) to make sure it sits flat on the table when in use. The stuffing I used for this was a combination of wool and polyester filling, though I wished I had done it solidly as wool as that has an insanely good weight to it. If you go for a smaller pincushion, I absolutely would recommend getting the ground walnut shells, they work beautifully for sharpening needles and pins as well as giving good firmness.
Oh man, for the mini ones I have, especially for firmness, I used regular quilt fabric. With the massive party cake, I used felt and the best stitch I would recommend for it is the blanket stitch when sewing it together. I haven't given the party cake pincushion the maiden voyage yet, so I can't exactly say which one I prefer the most. I will say though is if you're looking for firmness and something that'll hold ground walnut shells for sharpening the needles, I would strongly recommend the quilting fabric.
