Another old piece, this time of the generic orange fox I used to use for everything in front of the SS United States. This was originally intended to be a much larger scene with a larger crowd and such but given that this was about 6 months after I started drawing digitally I wasn't really there. I'm still very proud of how the ship looks (I traced the outline over a photo and also checked diagrams for the positioning of each door and window), though the shading could be better. In light of the impending sinking of the ship I'm inclined to do a full remake of this piece and hopefully bring it closer to how I originally imagined it, but that's not quite forthcoming. In any case, it's taken on a somewhat greater meaning for me as a result, and remains one of my favorite pieces, and I hope that the unlikely comes to pass and she is saved once again.
A red fox, dressed in a tan coat, stands in front of the SS United States fully lit at harbor. Wisps of white smoke waft up from the stacks, set against an orange sky at dawn/dusk.

I'm really going to miss this amazing liner...
It really angers me that the port got away with what they did to the Conservancy... And the fact the court only gave the Conservancy 1 month to find a new home for the SSUS.
If they had given them at the very least 5 months, who knows! Maybe there would have been someone willing to help them!

Yeah it pisses me off too! I think there was word of this concrete company or something like that wanting to buy her, but considering the number of failed purchases that've already gone through I wouldn't be surprised if it wouldn't work out anyway. Still really sad, merchant marine assets go underappreciated in general.
I don't remember if it was a concrete company, but it was some company or another without much interest in shipping. Reportedly wanted to turn her into a floating office building and museum from what I remember. To be fair as far as offices go it's almost impossible to beat ocean liner.
