I think of all the Nicktoons, Rocko may be the character that you have to feel the most sorry for. Anyone who says Squidward has it the worst misunderstands how much this familiar has suffered. His optimism and niceties get exploited for no reason whatever and are rarely reciprocated. His next door neighbor hates him, his friends abuse his hospitality, his boss is a cranky old toad, and his love life is a nightmare. It doesn't help that the scenery looks like it's looking down on him, and maybe fall down on him. He needs all the hugs that he can get if he were real.
