My bf's family celebrates Hanukkah instead of Christmas because they don't like the pagan roots of Christmas, so every year we go over to his parents' house for one of the nights of Hanukkah for a family dinner.
His parents' favorite Bible character is Joseph, so I drew this rainbow coat piece with the bowing celestial bodies.
It was a weird night because one of my bf's sisters died young this May, so it was our first Hanukkah without her. It was a good night despite the clear empty spot at the table, and their uncle came over to hang out after dinner. We've had problems with his family in the past, but this year we've learned to get along a lot better than we ever did before because of the loss of his sister.
I love my family, even my non-blood family.
