It has been reported that when Albert Einstein applied to Princeton, he said something like $3,000 when asked what he thought he should be paid. The interviewer was shocked, and Einstein thought it was too much and suggested a smaller amount. Needless to say, he was paid much more than that $3,000. His salary was set at $16,000.
