For todays drawing I did a quick sketch of Calamity (Chalchiuhtlicue) from Betsy Lee's "No Evil" animated series on youtube. No Evil is actually what got me into art in the first place and I highly recommend anyone viewing this drawing go check out the series on Youtube, watch atleast the first 10 episodes in one sitting trust me it'll be worth it and it only takes about 30 minutes to view those episodes. As I said before though No Evil is what made me really want to do art when I was younger, I discovered it back in winter 2017 and started drawing right after finding it and drew for about a year but ended up stopping because of social pressure and pressure I put on myself and only picked art back up in march 2022. Back when I first found No Evil though I was truly obsessed with it to the point where I'd rewatch the entire series from start to finish in 1 long sitting atleast once a week and kept that up for like 6 months. This particular pose is chosen from episode 4 of the series "A Simple Melody" and is a pose I am very familiar with, back in 2017-2018 I'd draw this pose constantly to a point where I could actually draw it blindfolded and it's become a bit of a tradition for me to draw this pose atleast once a year, even during the years I wasn't actually drawing, and so this is this years rendition. For this particular image however I decided to make some minor changes to the scene, to reflect the changes in the series and myself I decided to forgo the usual singing I'd draw Calamity doing and instead have her doing a more somber and reflective look, I'd like to imagine this particular image happening sometime in the present of the series with Calamity doing some introflection and reflection of the events of her life and the lives and events of those around her. Ultimately I decided to keep this piece relatively simple with a quick grayscale shading being done with only a few accents being done in other tones aside from my base shade tone. In the end there's I believe 5 hues in this image, the base hue for Calamity and a base hue for the background as well as the shade hue and an accent hue for Calamity and a deep shade hue for the shelves. This piece was also a very quick to make piece, in part due to how familiar I am with drawing the character in this exact pose, so I was able to get it done a bit faster then expected. Alright I think that's all I have to say for this piece, again if you haven't seen "No Evil" please check it out it's a truly wonderful series and it only takes half an hour to view the first 10 episodes.
Thanks for viewing my art
