lol you know its a mixed thing with people- either people think its adorable- or they automatically assume I was the bitch who put the hole in his ear. Which I didnt XD I just put the gold hoop into a hole that was already there (he was rescued from a pelt farm so I just replaced the tag)

He's actually had that earring in since the day I brought him home. Chiku chose me- and hes been my best friend ever since. He snuggles with me, hes well behaved (though he can be a terror at times) he loves cartoons (though pee wees playhouse is definately his favorite show) and he likes to go with me and wander downtown and ride in my hood and freak people out.

Chiku wont bite anyone ever! I can stick my fingers in his mouth and he'll push my hands away. which is interesting considering where I got him from... lol you'd think he'd hate all humans forever- but hes major nice! Usually chinchillas that bite arent well taken care of or are from pet stores that didnt take care of them. But a well loved and well taken care of chinchilla is very nice. (however Chiku seemed to love me from the moment he met me- hes the one that chose me. so I cant really say for entirely sure on this Chiku confuses Chinchilla owners all over the world.)

Is that where he got the earring from? :o I just now noticed that, 'cause I zoomed in on the image to get a better view of his fuzzy little face, and saw that. Poor lil Chikuuuu... ;n; He's so, so cute though! A friend of mine has one, and it kind of made me a little less weary around Chinchillas. His Chinchilla; Jose, gently took an almond out of my fingers, but I had it down to the very end, that almond 'cause I didn't want him to make a b-line for my hand lol ^_^;

yea I replaced the pelt farm tag with the gold earring. the hole was already there why not make it fashionable and cute? and dont worry- hes had it in for like 5-6 years with no problems (I actually got kicked off a website because of his earring) but he knows its there- and actually purposely misses it when he scratches that side of his head. (believe me I watched him for a while to make sure he didnt hurt himself)

And Im proud of you! one thing I can give you a hint with is to not let them near your fingernails XD They dont do it on purpose but they are curious critters- and where they'll do soft testing (or loving) nibbles on soft skin- when they come across the harder substance they tend to think they can bite harder because they dont understand what it is.

but dont let that scare you- I just figured I'd give you some advice to hole yourself from getting scared of them because they really are sweet lovable critters.

I had a hamster that used to give me little love nibbles, they startled me at first because I thought he was gonna bite me. But, he never did. My sister's hamster however... That hamster was a mean little ball of fluff. Had to use a Ski glove in order to feed her, because she would bite, and bite to draw blood. Maybe even maliciously. >n< Never gave her a chance though.

I was never really fond of hamsters, every one I've ever been around or near except for ONE (a fat lil albino dwarf hamster I owned named snowball) always bit me. Snowball did not. I used to put her and her mouse friend Crystal in my barbie limo and theyd take on the (obviously imaginary) town.

Chiku likes to give love nibbles- especially in return for scritching him under the chin. he loves that. he will melt if you scratch him behind his ear or under the chin. he is a fluff.

And no I would NEVER do such a thing to an animal. Im actually appalled that the pelt farm did it- and that they were going to kill him in the first place! Imagine if they managed to before he got rescued! I'd be short one fluffy lil monster! then where would I be?..

I didn't know there was such things as pelt farms. o___o Glad you got him when you did, poor lil guy would have likely been some rich lady's purse. >n< Sorry for the mental image! The only reason my sister's hamster bit, was because the hamster was scared shitless when she was first brought home. My sister brought all her friends over and they all squee'd and such, scared the poor thing. I was actually kind of happy when the hamster passed away. My sister had one before this hamster, he was a sweetheart. He would sit and watch t.v. with her.

yea pelt farms exist and they are EVIL. It takes 300 chinchillas to make one coat ...x.x so to make a purse it would probably take about 20 or so Chinchillas. (however dont take this as a creepy PETA protest.) I dont agree with pelt farms. but I can agree with hunting animals for a good cause (I.e hunters who actually use everything from the dead animal- or need to kill them to survive etc.)

Yea That poor hamster... she should have at least let it get used to her before she showed it her friends- then at least knowing her it could have snuggled close to her to feel secure.

Lol Chiku will watch TV with me too while he sits in my lap.

Yea, that hamster could likely have been saved, but she kept her in the cage as everybody went nuts. And those poor chinchillas! D: That makes me so, so, so sad! >n<o

Had a ferret fluffy a few years ago, probably one of the best pets I ever owned.

mom wont let me get a ferret.... I want one though. and yea any hamster I ever met was pretty mean so ive sorta steered clear of them.

You would have liked my sister's hamster, and mine. Neither bit nor were mean. All fluff and no bark lolol and ferrets are a bit of a handful, which is probably why she won't allow you to get one. Also you dont think Chikus a handful? He can be WORSE than a ferret XD when he feels like it- And I do know what ferrets are like- my dad had one named Magellan until he got sick of it and got rid of it. My dad is a strange person...

Oh yea, I've seen my friend try and chase Jose down around his apartment when he lets him out of his cage. It's amusing, and it's probably like a ferret, unless you know their weakness. X3 My ferret's was yucky smelling treats or a plastic bag. Oh, he loved plastic bags.

Yea, they can smell, but they have their own distinct smells. Just think if they weren't de-gland before being sent to new homes, they would smell 100x worse, very likely. The only downside was smelling like a ferret when I'd visit friends.

Yea Chiku LOVES it when you chase him, usually you arent supposed to- but you can just tell that hes enjoying messing with you. To get Chiku back in my arms I just have to trick him into jumping into them by chasing him to a wall or somewhere where he'll have to turn around and come back towards me.

Or I do a trick called the Grab-tuck-roll- where I actually leap on him and do a foreward roll but have him REALLY close and safe so he doesnt get hurt at all- its hard to explain- but it works. and my parents have no idea how I do it- or manage to catch chiku most of the times I do.

Chikus weakness... sad to say- is candy and strawberry pocky... (i know better than to give him very much of either)
