Take a seat my fine friends, and grab yourselves some grog and ale. Because i’ve got another tale to tell, you derring-dos and hopeless drunks…
Prisons, they are rather handy when you need to lock up a few ‘bad eggs’. But they can also be quite the curse for innocent folks like you and i… Take for example, the more tyrannical kingdoms that adorns our little world, have a tendency of throwing bloaks like you and i, in said prisons when we ‘question’ their ways of ruling.
But this tale has nothing to do with the politics of the world, Blegh!... No, this is about a Warden who rules his prison with an iron fist. A Warden, who is as cold and merciless as the morningstar he wields.
Listen closely, as i tell you of Wa’Kek. The Vile Warden of Banner’s Keep…
—
Wa’Kek, a Dragonfolk who were the born son of Banner keep’s prior warden, and was next in line to take their place, once their time was over and done.
From an early age, he was taught the cruel reality of the world by his very own father, in the most ‘physical’ manner. Beaten to a pulp eách time he failed in their sparring matches, thrashed about when he didn’t pay attention, and forced to endure the most severe training regiments, which would have killed any other kid at his age.
All of this was to build him up to be the perfect, stalwart warden, which would take up his father’s mantle when the day would come. To make sure that their bloodline would stay renowned for being the best Wardens this side of the land…
This was how his father taught him, and their father's father like wise, and so on.
So to say that Wa’Kek ‘Despised’ his old man, and his bloodline in general, would be an understatement. Tho, from what i could gather, that sentiment runs deep in that family tree.
He served under his father as his ‘errand boy’ at the age of 15, then as an ordinary prison guard at 20, getting to the nitty gritty of dealing with the scum of the prison first hand, and even getting shanked once or thrice while doing so.
Once he got to the ripe age of 30, Kek was then given the title of Warden, of Banner Keep prison. Tho it was quite a cold transaction of position, as his father neither congratulated him, nor wished him luck. All he did, was telling him to not fuck up their lineage, and left…
Now, so far, i’ve only told you of how miserable his life has been, but that is to shine some context into what i’m about to tell you next.
You see, the amount of hurendos and just outright diabolical acts committed against him by his father. Coupled with living in a prison filed with the most bloodthirsty criminals, and cutthroat guards around. It has a way of twisting a guy’s mind too… ‘Darker’ thoughts. Even more so for a kid.
Now, given full reign of the prison AND it’s personal, Wa’Kek could finaly let lose some of his pent up aggression with a twisted glee, upon the ‘Scum’ of the kingdoms…
As a little side note, Banner Keep is a sort of ‘shared’ prison amongst a handful of kingdoms. It’s the place where the most savage, and dangerous of outlaws and criminals are sent. However, with the abundance of available prison space, they do also periodically get sent an influx of your regular common schmucks. I’m talking about petty thieves, and those who spoke against the rules, and so on.
Anyways, back on topic. Typically, as everyone here knows, hurting someone really badly, to outright murdering them, ends you up behind bars. But since Kek was a Warden, and these crocks and murderers were ‘Scum’ in the eyes of the people, and the guards likewise, non would bat and eye if a few went ‘missing’ or found Dead in their cells.
Now, at first, things went as normal once Kek had taken over. But then he began testing the waters a little, pulling a few of the inmates aside, pushing them about and making them dance a little. Tame stuff like that.
But then, he began to go deeper. Placing contraband inside a few peoples cells, and then using that as an excuse to throw them into solitary confinement, or the mud pits for a day or so. Bribing some of the prisoners to start a riot, just for Kek and his ‘Goons’ to swop in and crack a few skulls.
Over the years, Wa’Kek had thrown any semblance of discreteness out the window, and made his intentions VERY clear for all the poor sods that he kept watch over. Before, where he and his guards looked for any excuse to beat the prisoners to a bloody pulp, now they just polled anyone that so much as gave any of them a funny look aside, and beat them either half or fully to death. Those that really ticked off the Warden were dragged to the medical room, where upon Kek himself would go about breaking them until they were nothing but a broken bloody mess.
And whenever a riot would break out… Pfff… Hoo-wee, once they are done crushing the rioteers, the prison is gonna be less than half as loud then it used to be, for the next couple of weeks.
Wa’Kek is no pushover, nor is he an idiot. For example, like how he, through a bit of string pulling, and making a few deals with a couple of influential lords, got his own father sent back to Banner Keep prison, as a prisoner. All so he could enact his self-righteous justice on the man that made him who he is.
All I could find out after the father was sent there, was him entering the prison, and then three days later, he was found in a trash heap, hacked to pieces and face completely unrecognizable.
To this day, he still rules that prison with an iron grip made of fear and malice. Making all stand at attention whenever he appears, and crushing those who fail to respect his gruesome authority.
He and his prison’s cruelty is very well known, and works as a really good tool to frighten criminals in other prisons to behave, under the threat of being sent there to become the Vile Warden’s new toys… A threat which very few dare to even challenge.
—
And that is who and what Wa’Kek the Vile Warden is. A boy forged into a cruel Monster
So take heed my friends. Live an honest life, and keep your heads down when the long arm of ‘order’ comes around.
For I would hate and dread the thought of any of you fine folks to be dragged behind bars for the most pitiable and minor of crimes.
And a worse thought it would it be, if you were to be sent to such a dreadful prison, as the Banner Keep…
This fine peice was once again done by the always amazing

So hop on over there and give them some praise!
