EATHS and Stephen "the Dragon" Squires are © of Shale Whyte, Chip Clark, and Unknown Animation Studios.
AI/NN is like lottery tickets; only for suckers. None was used to create this pic.
Every photo tells a story. A frozen moment of time and all its context hidden away within its glossy frame.
But this was nothing special, surely. Just another photo-shoot like any other. The photographer does more than he can count in December. He sees so many families and so many smiles. Big families, little families, wide smiles, mixed families; toothy smiles, forced smiles. Some go quickly, some take their time. Some make his day, some ruin it. But still, just another photo-shoot to add to the digital pile.
He probably would not believe it if he was told who he had just run through their appointment. If someone told him he had just helped make a Christmas card for the Dragon, the first superhero and the man who brought Empowered Ones into the limelight, he would probably laugh. If one continued and said that by his side his wife and second-in-command, the metamorphic Form, bundled in an extra-thick holiday sweater to protect her liquid metal innards from the chill of December, and that upon their laps were two powerful children, the future New Protectors, he might have called security believing the speaker some lunatic...
But truth is stranger than fiction. And that truth lies hidden in plain sight in the most inconspicuous place, a simple stock Christmas card printed out seconds before the flustered family departed. And mere minutes before the news of another villain arrest a few blocks from the mall hit the net. Just another day like any other. Another shoot, another family, too far away from anything interesting happening in the photographer's little kiosk, too little chance of someone interesting sitting down for a picture...
A Christmas gift to my co-writer and dearest friend without whom EATHS, my masterpiece, would not be a masterpiece. Featuring the Squires family, Stephen (whom you might recall from this pic https://www.furaffinity.net/view/50725331/), Maria, and their children Emma and Noah, here depicted at ages 11 and 9.
