Oh look more Redwall, who could have predicted this would happen. Anyway today I've got a drawing of Sela from the first Redwall book for you all. For this piece I really wanted to hammer in the directional lighting with a direct source in the image. I ended up doing a few more passes on the shading and highlights then I normally do and tried some new techniques and gotta say I'm super pleased with how this all came out. My only real complaint for this image is the face, you'd think after how ever many months of practicing those I'd actually be at drawing them but no somehow I manage to bungle the face up once again, atleast it's not too noticeable on this piece. For the posing with this piece I wanted to draw Sela doing her healing dance that we see a little bit of in the cartoon version of the story. Speaking of the cartoon, I never watched the cartoon growing up only read the books and now having seen some bits of it I really think they messed up their adaptation of the first novel especially Sela and Chickenhounds story lines. I also hate how the show changes the pronunciation of Sela from "see-la" (how it's said in the audiobook) to "sell-ah". Anyway I'm gonna restrain myself and not go off on a rant about the book vs the show and how stupid a character Constance the Badger is and I'll instead choose to end this here.
thanks for viewing my art
have a wonderful day/night
