Claude isn't sure why she hasn't ripped him to shreds yet or eaten him, but he's certainly not complaining. However, it's in that moment when she approaches him and examines his scent that he really gets a sense of just how enormous this gryphon mama is compared to him. He can't help but wonder how soft her feathers and fur are when she's just inches away from him, bathing him in her warm breath as she continues examining him...so he figures he may as well take a chance and try to pet her. He's surprised to see how open she is to being touched, and he's delighted to feel how incredibly soft she is, just like a cloud. However, this cloud seems to want to touch him back, and he's met with intense fear and delight as she curiously licks him to feel how soft HE is. "It's...just a lick," he thinks to himself, "She's just...petting me back, right?" As his thoughts swirl around in his head, it's starting to become more apparent that there might be something forming here in this clifftop nest, especially the way she's staring at the skunk. The only question is what.
