Asami and Navi have a bit of a long-distance relationship. When one member of the couple happens to belong to a handful of surviving planeswalkers in the wake of the Desparkening, and the other, while a potent magical entity and demigoddess in her own right, has difficulty bridging the gulf between universes, it means that both kitsunes tend to spend time away from one another. Both maintain a home on an alternate version of Yakushima Island just off of the coast of Japan, a cozy den nestled deep within the island's protected interior, but while both are tending to their own respective tasks and duties in other dimensions, it can sit unused and vacant for days or weeks at a time. However, despite different scales and passages of time across the multiverse, the two always manage to make it home in time for Christmas.
In Japan, the holiday that most associate with gifts and thankfulness and a joyous celebration to cap off the year is quite different. Instead, it possesses romantic connotations, equivalent to Valentine's Day elsewhere. As such, it is a time for a couple that are forced to be apart far too often to come together and enjoy each other's company. Bundled up in comfy clothing inside of their warm underground home, the two cuddle and kiss and share presents and cook for one another and do what they can to make such precious moments count. Tails can get entwined and even used as cushions or blankets, and if they are both feeling quite frisky, those tails can be used for much more. But during the majority of the holidays, the Abbots are content to just stay close and swap stories they have heard or experienced on their travels.
