Well would you look at that, after like a month of nothing but Redwall fanart I've finally drawn something that isn't Redwall :). For real though I did need a break from Redwall art, I'm not done and my next piece is planned to be more Redwall but I'm going to try and shift away from Redwall fan art being all I draw. Currently my plan is to wrap up drawing the Redwall characters I've wanted to draw but to intersperse these non Redwall drawings in between as a sort of pallet cleanser. For this drawing I decided to draw the art program Krita's mascot Kiki the Cyber Squirrel. Originally I had planned for this to be a coloured piece using some of Krita's greyscale to colour technology but ended up setting things up a little wrong and decided against it in the end, I'm gonna look into it a bit more and see about implementing greyscale to colour in my next piece. As for this piece one thing I noticed when looking at the official art of Kiki was that her creator frequently said that they based a drawing off of a Monet painting, liking this idea I decided to try it out for myself and based the pose for this image off of Monet's painting of his wife wearing a kimono. While working I tried to think of ways to differentiate my work from the original Monet while also thinking about ways to implement elements of Kiki into the image and in the end decided to try and make her kimono a blend between Kiki's skirt and a traditional Japanese kimono. I also tried to add some other hints to krita into the image, for example I turned the fan in the original Monet into a fan made out of stylist in my piece, I was also going to turn the texture on the fan into Krita's colour wheel but like I said earlier all plans to implement greyscale to colour ended up falling apart in the end. I also didn't want to stick ridgedly to Kiki's original semi chibi design and attempted to adapt her original design into my style for this drawing. Ultimately I'm fairly happy with how this piece came it, I wanted to do a quick sketch after my last drawing kinda destroyed my confidence and this really helped. Only took a few hours and it actually ended up looking close to how I imagined with the only major change I'd make being her hand and setting it up for greyscale to colour better. I could probably write more but it's late right now and I forgot to post this earlier so I'm going to cut this description here.
Thanks for viewing my art
Have a wonderful day/night
