The headdress was taken from his sister, whom was a bird goddess. She commanded over a territory that was inhabited by humans and she was loved and worshiped by them all. Sypios was jealous of this and her power. One day, he approached his sister in the middle of the night while she slept and murdered her. He then devoured her body to absorb her power. Sypios had plucked numerous feathers from his sister's body and had them fashioned into the headdress he wears today. He now rules over his sister's territory.
