The few artists that have put Mawile in diapers just put them over their "pants", and I'd likely do the same since their legs are just skin meant to resemble a hakama.

Although, since you mentioned whether they'd like or dislike wearing diapers, I'd say Mawile being all about deception and selling someone on a false idea can make this go both ways. A Mawile who's, say, two years old and wants to be seen as a big kid in the eyes of those older than them would probably dislike diapers that scream "I'm a baby!", and so, to your question on other kinds of clothes, they'd like wearing overalls that conceal their crinkly garments (they'd look super cute in them too!). But, expanding on my idea that a Mawile kid would weaponize their innocence, if they're, say, 3-4 years old and want to sell the idea that they're a baby for the sake of attention and adoration, they'd enjoy those same diapers that scream "I'm a baby!". It's also cute to think that a Mawile who's a late bloomer in terms of potty training would try to further sell the idea they're a baby by sometimes speaking in a lisp despite having grown out of that, all for the sake of getting all the more "awwww!"s and attention from others.
