My sister just saw the movie- admitted that it didn't match up to the first, but still had it's moments. And she DID tell me about this as well.
Great gestures again- the energy and pride of the peacock is well felt and contradicts the very "dead" and apathetic like gestures of the Pandas.

WHAT? I totally disagree. I think it blew the first one out of the water. Del Toro on board has producer made the cinemotography alone 10x more stunning and the whole thing expanded the universe and the characters and the emotional impact, for me personally, had me crying in my seat. I don't think you'll like it because it makes the wolves 'evil', but sidjsojdsd I do think it's far better than the original.
