Scientific Name: Thanatoraptor akraiam "Death seizer of the Outback."
Size: Max general length is 28 feet, but some individuals, if fed well early in life, can reach up to 33 feet long. They also reach 10 feet high at the hips, reaching weights of 2.5 tons max growth.
Speed: Sprint speed is up to 45 mph, with running speed up to 30 mph
Lifespan: They have the potential of living up to passed a century, but their dangerous lifestyle renders their time of death usually being 80 years.
Diet/Hunting: Strictly Carnivorous, able to hunt most creatures that aren't above 5 tons by itself. But these raptors rarely hunt alone. Working with a mate, these raptors are deadly to any animal that is 4 times its size, able to intelligently coordinate with its mate to take down massive prey. The only time anyone would see them form a "pack" is when there is a massive animal that is sick or greatly injured that the raptors know they can take down, encouraging them to swarm and attract more raptors for miles around.
Social/Parenting: These raptors live in mated pairs for all of their lives, raising young once every 3 years. They raise 2-5 young at the start of the wet season, laying the eggs at the end of the dry season. They raise their young for a full year, when the young are around a 3rd the adult size, for which then they should have the experience to hunt on their own. The only times pairs will congregate together is when a massive creature is dead and a large crowd gathers to scavenge.
Conflicts: These creatures are a nightmare for humanoids and livestock, with attacks occurring often. In its ecosystem, they are the 2nd top land predator on the continent, with Titanoraptor being the main apex predator, which Thanatoraptors will actively avoid since the Titan will have no issue making a meal out of the smaller raptor. But where ever Titanoraptor is absent in an area, Thanatoraptor rules.
Fun Facts: This raptors' vocal system is very advanced, capable of mimicking its prey to lure them into an ambush area. This unfortunately includes humanoids, with some reports of raptors imitating the screams and cries of infants they have eaten prior.
