The concept was actually a street market. A number of markets operate indefinitely along certain streets but many others also only set up on weekends when most people are off work. I dont know for sure though, I'm still working on the concept. The last two buildings on the end burned down and were too damaged to repair. So they had to be torn down, and what you see on the left side are beams supporting the neighboring building. Since the rowhouses were built jointly if neighboring buildings were torn down the buildings next door have to be moored up to prevent them from cracking or falling down until new buildings are built or the walls strengthened. They were built by one builder with only aesthetic features like architectural details and windows differing between each house, so the walls in between only protect each house from fire damage and noise from the neighbors.
