Description: Scorch grew up fascinated by fire and how it could both destroy and create. As a young Kobold, he’d sneak away from his clan to collect shiny metal scraps, gears, and fragments of old weapons. While others saw junk, Scorch saw potential. With Oberon’s guidance, he learned to channel his curiosity into building gadgets and traps. However, Scorch’s love of the outdoors often distracted him from tinkering—he was equally thrilled by tracking beasts in the wild and figuring out how to catch them using his inventions.

One day, while exploring the ruins of an ancient forge, Scorch stumbled upon a damaged but enchanted crossbow. After tinkering with it for weeks, he modified it into a multipurpose hunting tool, marking the start of his journey as an Artificer-Ranger. Although he often gets into trouble with his playful antics, Scorch’s boundless creativity has saved his older brother and their party more times than they can count. His gadgets, infused with a bit of chaotic ingenuity, often lead to surprising (and occasionally explosive) results.

Despite his playful demeanor, Scorch is fiercely loyal to Oberon and sees their adventures as a way to prove his worth as a younger brother and partner in their shared destiny. During one of his trips out into the mountains, he got stuck in a snowstorm, leading to him starting to feel cold as he looked for shelter, stumbling upon a Kyrgyz-Lokai Horse named Ike’hara, standing only at 5ft 7in, 2ft taller than the Kobold as he asked her if she could help him find a warm place until the storm passed. The mare thought for a moment before opening her maw to the Kobold. Scorch was taken aback that she’d suggest eating him but was willing to take the chance and nodded. Before long he found himself curled up in the mare’s warm, stretchy gut as she trotted back the way she saw him come from. Afterward, she chose to stay with Scorch and his brother.
