Cress’s usual job at the Latimas Adventurer’s Guild is that of an archeologist, examining all sorts of relics and texts the members of the guild bring back from their expeditions to learn more about the world’s ancient civilizations.
On this particular occasion, Cress was examining a number of artifacts one of the guild’s teams had discovered and brought back from their recent expedition. There were several odd relics that Cress had already thoroughly inspected, set aside, and tagged. Most of them were just curiosities, carvings of Pokémon or decorative items, but one had caught his eye. It was the peculiar hand-sized stone carving of a Mew holding a blue gem.
The Totodile used his magnifier to study the Mew figure in greater detail from many various angles. He even inspected the gemstone itself which seemed to sparkle with a mysterious power. Curious, he felt the gem and it was slightly warm to the touch. He continued to examine the statue, finding an odd little notch near one of the statue’s hands. Using a thin tool, he pressed something inside the tiny hollow causing the gem to start glowing.
“Whoa!” Cress remarked in amazement. He gazed at the gem, completely entranced by it as it pulsated with a strange energy. Suddenly a bright-blue flash loosed from within causing the water-type to feel a strange sensation as if he was…falling.
In the next moment, Cress found himself staring up at his desk, which was now somehow enormous. It wasn’t just the desk however as the whole room was suddenly gigantic.
“Hey Cress!” Firrin called out as he swung open the door to the room. “The Guildmaster wants to see y—huh? Where is he?”
Cress looked up to see the massive form of his friend step into the room, terrified. That’s when it finally dawned on him that somehow he had shrunk.
“F-Firrin! I’m down here!” he jumped up, screaming and waving, hoping to been seen.
Unaware of his friend’s peril, Firrin walked towards Cress’s desk, noticing the Mew figure laying there along with the other artifacts Cress was studying.
“That’s strange…” he mumbled with a finger on his chin, “…he’s supposed to be in here. Maybe he stepped out for a moment?”
Firrin’s giant footsteps shook the ground underneath the water-type as the Charmander stepped towards him and his desk, interested in the relics.
“W-Wait, Firrin! P-Please don’t step on me!” Cress squeaked desperately.
As Firrin neared Cress’s desk, he heard a tiny voice emanating from below him, causing him to stop and look down and notice the shrunken Totodile.
“W-Wha—Cress, is that you?!” he yelled surprise, seeing him between his feet.
Cress had fallen on his rear and gawked upward at the giant Charmander. He was speechless as his friend gazed down at him in awe.
After looking down at Cress for a moment, then at the artifacts on the desk, and finally back down at Cress, a small grin formed on the fire-type’s face.
“Wow… I take it one of those relics shrunk you down… I guess now you get to experience being the small one~” he chuckled playfully.
“W-Wait! H-Hold on, Firrin!” Cress started moving backwards and stretched out an arm up towards him trying to stop him from whatever mischief he was thinking up. “Y-You’re not mad at me b-because I accidentally stepped on you that one time, are you?!”
Firrin continued to look down at the tiny Totodile with an ever-widening smile.
This great YCH was done by
Sokz and the short story was written by myself.
It just so happens that this takes place some time after The Fate of a Shrunken Explorer. I wonder how Firrin managed to grow back to normal size...
