Dialogues:
Vulver: Captain Valkodlak told me, that he became rather thoughtful after you had rescued him. He brooded for hours over the question, why you had helped him and his pack. - Why having mery with a stranger, to whom you weren´t indepted at all? In this galaxy it is all about the survival of the fittest. Whoever couldn´t come out on top, wouldn´t make it. Such was the rule of nature. - He didn´t any answers to his questions, so he set out to find his own answers. - And that changed him entirely. - I hope, I´m not boring you out with my story, friend. Hehe! I tend to "stray off" sometimes.
Voolvif: Not at all. I love long stories.

Pondering Captain Valkodlak: So many questions ... Why did Voolvif save me; it's supposed to be Survival of the Fittest and yet I was shown such kindness? Why is our Ship Called the Howling Cerberus; yes we say Hell but surely we don't have a Hades or Harry Potter Mythos ... even One Piece had a Cerberus, though technicallyone of the heads was a Fox? Why did Disney make Brutus wear Boots; surely they could have afforded paw prosthetics ... no wonder he'sso angry all the time his claws must be cramped? XD
As soon as Disney took over control is was more and more about style over substance. They wanted to drawn the audience with special effects and epic scenarios in every second of the movie, but that backfired along with unfortunate script choices plus the sudden death of Carrie Fisher.
Star Wars was in its core meaning very close to medieval heroic tales. A young person sets out on an adventure, learns new skills, but still is more or less naive, then something happens that becomes a burden for their heart and soul, they fall for a while into desperation, but eventually rise up again and finally become mature enough to be true heroes. Character development is the key for this story universe.

Voolvif likely was as instrumental as Rashka in forging Fennrer into the man he would become, given he was a man of violence, almost feral in a way before he met her and as Vulver said his experience had been survival of the fittest and not really having experienced mercy for himself or maybe truly understood it. The spark was there that was first ignited by Rashka and that had slowly grown but Voolvif kindled it into a flame, Fennrer himself embracing mercy and altruism and ultimately coming to Voolvif's rescue and repaying the debt he felt he owed.
In a way their journeys have mirrored one another, Fenner starting out alone, violent and thinking purely of his own survival, finding his pack and over time growing into a more compassionate and idealistic individual if somewhere in the grey area between the Light and the Dark. Voolvif lost his pack and faced a harsh betrayal, just barely survived and dipped close to the Dark Side and if hadn't been found and somehow managed to survive he might in time have become not so different from Fennrer in his younger days.
