Mina is the ship's quartermaster, so she's responsible for enforcing discipline, for ensuring the ship maintains its proper course, and for leading the men into battle. When spoils are divided, she ensures that every sailor gets his fair share.

If the Captain ever decides to capture another vessel, she would become its captain.

Her position is a trusted one. She both has her Captain's ear and is his ears. Any irresponsible talk amongst the crew will be noticed, and it will be dealt with appropriately.
