A redraw version of my old silly comic. The story is based on my personal experience. But if you got confused about the story, it's OK because the original story should be read in Chinese.


If you want to know what happened, I can explain it:

First, you need to know that there is a cigarette named "State Express 555" or just "555". You can find more information on the Internet.

When I was in army. I have two days off in weekend and I was wandering around in the city. Then someone call me and asked me to buy a box of cigarette for him. He was on the way back to the base and he didn't have any free time to buy cigarettes. There was no way to buy any cigarettes in the base until we had a day off and left the base. He knew that I was free right now.

But I'm not a smoker, I didn't buy any cigarettes before. I asked him what did he want and he tell me that just go to the convenience store and tell the clerk "三五".

Yeah, he want the cigarette "555".

In English, when you want to say 555, you may say "three fives", not "thirty-five"
In Chinese, it can reads 三個五(sān gè wǔ). But those smokers are lazy to say three words like that, so they usually just say 三五(sān wǔ)
And "thirty-five" in Chinese is 三十五(sān shí wǔ). You can see that they all sound really similar.

As I said before, I'm not a smoker. I didn't know there is a cigarette named 555 at that time. And that guy talk to me too fast. I was not sure he want to say 三個五 or 三十五 because he just tell me 三五.


Back to the convenience store, I walked to the counter and asked the clerk about a cigarette named 三五. Unfortunately the clerk was not a smoker, either. He didn't understand what I said. Then I found that every cigarettes had a number on the shelf. I thought the 三五 may mean the number, so I asked him the number 35 cigarette. And he gave me a single cigar, ONE CIGAR!!!

Of course I didn't buy that cigar. That's too stupid. I don't think they can smoke cigars in the base. And the "buy a box of cigarette mission"......yeah, totally failed.
