...Good one Ace. I'm guessing the Bentley had either a Straight 8 or a "V" engine of some sort, as it seems to me the exhausts were joined into one big pipe, instead of two separate ones. The Turbocharger however would require a larger exhaust pipe. Oh... What the hey. It still looks good after all these years.
It is actually supercharged, and the Roots Compressor can be spotted infront of the headlamps =)
the Bentley had a 4.4L Inline four, and that means that every cylinder is over 1 litre..
4 valves per cylinder, like you might find in a relatively well-preforming engine of todays standard, back then, it was mindblowing..
Though its overall competitive performance was not particularly outstanding, the 4½ Litre Bentley managed to beat several speed records, most famously in 1932 at Brooklands with a recorded speed of 222.03 km/h.
I remember seeing some old footage of Woolf Barnato barreling along in his Bentley.. absolutely epic..
and there's so much more interesting stuff about racing in this time
lets just say that 700-800 horsepower were by no means unusual at that time, all be it, in racingcars, not roadcars
Oh, how i could go on and on XD
