crux had this cute commission raffle idea, and I so liked the concept that I threw my hat into the ring. And won an $11 commission!

The question I answered for him was about who my favorite artists were outside the fandom. I cited Nancy Chien-Eriksen, and Michael Whelan. From Nancy's page he drew inspiration from her scratchboard stuff, and this is what he produced! Actually, originally it was just black & white, but he decided to spice it up with a bit of color. I think the result is pretty fantastic, and is now happily displayed as my iPad background. It works really well, actually, allowing the icons to stand out (as opposed to some other backgrounds which, while beautiful on a desktop, don't work too well on the iPad). I think what strikes me most about this picture is that he chose to fill in the eyes, while the rest of it is textured as scratchboard would be. Really makes 'em pop and add intensity to that Rooth stare. O.O
