Birthday Week Raffle 2024: MrProky
So, it's my birthday week, which is on the 8th of this month, and for the week I'm doing a raffle. It's absolutely free to enter, and will be a once a day thing, where I do a short story to go with an image provided by the requester. You don't have to have DRAWN the image, but you do have to get permission for me to post it, so if it's something you commissioned, or just something you like that you want to see something written to go with, ask the artist and get me that, and you can enter.

A request from someone I hadn't talked to in some time, but an interesting one. He commissioned a comic of a character from Final Fantasy 14, the MMO one. In this case, the Ancient Venat.

Venat's room was not something one could normally enter into. A former Azem of the Convocation of Fourteen, she was a figure almost revered by some of those who knew her. Worse, her room held some of those items she'd procured on her travels, which meant they were dangerous, valuable, or more than likely, both in equal measure, meaning there were spells, mechanical things, and even some divine writs to keep people out.
That was people of a normal size. You, however, had snuck in in an airship at a most UNNORMAL size, being barely larger than a grain of sand, hoping to go unnoticed as you looked out at all the thing about you, the huge chamber the least interesting sight, as Venat herself was wandering about, and you decided to get closer, just to be able to say you did so, as you buzzed your airship around her legs, then slowly working your way up her body.
It was as you passed her neck that the problem happened. Her eyes, sharp as ever for battle in the Trials, spotted you, and thinking you some gnat or other pest, she swatted. To you, it should have been a slow, ponderous thing, like the movements of others. But her skill in battle translated well here, and her hand seemed to rush at the speed of lightning, the edge of her finger grazing your craft, causing it to sputter, cough, and then die.
Crashing to the floor feeling like a bad idea, you instead aimed higher, and luckily, there was a soft landing zone just ahead. You struck home amid the towers of her hair, your ship landing sharply, but not so much that she noticed, leaving you to stare at them from their roots. The seemed to loom large, with their 'smooth' surface being more like tiered steps, as the world above them moved, Venat already forgetting about the pest, as she made her way to the rest of her duties.
