Gourd Indian Cobra

My biggest gourd sculpture so far - the Indian Cobra! It was made on a whim after my dad brought home the huge snake gourd (original form shown in the WIP section). It was going to be thrown away, but once I saw it I snatched it right up! I cut a deformed bushel gourd to make the hood. A small banana gourd helped even up the tail (although it has a fat bottom...the gourd grew like that.) I added cardboard for the hood's underside and paperclay for sculpting the head and filling in holes. Spray paint gave it a base coat and I spent many hours painting the black scales...
It's not perfect, but I didn't have a hundred hours to spend on it. I know the Indian Cobra isn't this orange (more grey and black) but I like orange. :3
Dimensions are on the image, I'm certainly going to make more large gourd art!
He is for sale, but I don't know if anyone would be willing to pay for the monstrous shipping that'd come with him. It'd be between $10-20 for USA (I will NOT ship this out of country, sorry).

LOL, thank you!
@_@ That cobra IS AWESOME! If I ever find another curled snake gourd, I'm definitely making him that color.
Still awesome though
And this gourd-sculpting is such a unique idea! What gave you the idea to do it? :o
I was introduced to gourd sculpting by my grandma. :3 She grows gourds (hundreds each year, and she has thousands in storage). And she also sculpts onto them. She does mostly folk art, like cartoony chickens and dolls and snowmen with hats. But being more a realist, I took her gourds for a spin. :D LOL
Oh wow, that's so cool! That's great that she was able to influence you like that, hehe.<3
If he's still available after Saturday, if we have money left, he's mine >o
:3 We'll see, there's been some interest so you might've missed out on this one!
