Lookit what I done! Took me quite a while to do this, too.
Out of curiosity, what would you say is a price you'd pay for such a thing?
(please note I'm not asking for a fair price, because I know fair prices tend to be more than the typical furry will pay---not bitching, just stating fact :/)
It's meant to fit into a free-standing glass-fronted picture frame (which I do have). It measures about 12x4 inches, and didn't quite fit the scanner, hence the wrinkled look to it.
Paws are meant to represent feline, ungulate, mustilid (specifically: skunk), canine, ursine, equine, and lapine. Why no draconic? Because there is no one person who will agree what a dragon's pawprint would look like, that's why.
The scanner kinda ate up the colors--the purple isn't quite as dark, and the orange is orange, not peach as it currently appears to me on the library's screen.
Close-up can be seen in my scraps right here.
I designed & made this-here cross-stitch, it's © me

No dinosaur footprint Kwan? :O
Just jesting with you there, don't gnaw my arm off! *Chirp*
Tres Magnifique! Fantastic work of cross-stitching, it's charming and delightful! :3
If I were a furry in search of this and had the money I'd say a price of $12-$17 would work.
Of course this is merely my unwise opinion and should be quickly disregarded lest disaster fall upon all.
But in honestly I think somewhere above $10 and at the most $20.

Very nice cross-stitch work. That must have taken you hours to do.
The best way to figure out prices on things like this is to figure out how long it took you, multiply that by a fair hourly wage, and add in the cost of materials. So for example, lets say that it took you 8 hours to finish. Since cross-stitching is rather hard on your eyes, I think an hourly wage of $8 is fair. Add in material costs (canvas, needles, thread, frame) - I'm guestimating $15 (?). Which gives you a total of $79 plus shipping. :)
Obviously, if any of these guesstimates are off, you'll have to rework the numbers, but I think it gives you a good idea.

Wow, thanks for such kind words. I'd call that a fair price, but frankly I think the folks in furry fandom who would pay that are few & far between.
I was hoping to use this to show what I can do & generate interest in commissions, but I'm thinking that's more of a pipe dream than anything.

I wouldn't give up on it. Keep uploading your works and it will gradually generate more interest. You could also start out by charging double the cost of materials plus shipping and then gradually raise your prices to something more fair to you. That way you get both sides - people who can only afford the lower price and people who will gladly pay top dollar for quality work. :)
Not as lost as you might think: check out
horsieboy's page. He does cross-stitch almost as lovely as yours (I have one of his pieces).
This is a gorgeous design and I'd easily expect to pay at least $50 for it. As for not expecting a "fair" price, screw that. Why work on such tiny detailed pieces to sell, if you aren't being properly compensated for your time? Judging from the scale of this one, I'd guess it at about 15-20 stitches per inch, so this is around four inches by eight, or thereabouts (huge guess- likely nowhere near right, but I try. ^^)? That's a lot of time used! I know it would take me a good two days of eight-hour spans each to make this...
Oh, yeah- I WANT ONE. >^___^< *has a huge thing for rainbows*

Ok, by reading these other posts there are some furs out there that actually do cross-stitch. Sorry. But still, everyone's work is unique to them and not like any others work.
I know I have planned on creating some cross-stitch patterns for my sister who loves doing cross stitching. And those would be unique to me. So go for it anyway!
