Are you currently on Alexandrite? Are you really, absolutely, not doing well? Did the air around you turn cold all of a sudden? That can only mean the planet's version of the Grim Reaper is about to show himself to you.
Calling himself Winter's Doom, this incarnation of death only shows himself to you if your time has come. Being one of the first individuals on the planet to pass away, he was granted the task of guiding the spirits of the departed to the Spirit Realm, where he resides himself.
It's a lonely existence, really. And when he doesn't get to do his eternally-assigned duty for a while, he tends to get bored. Sometimes he wishes he could hang with mortals for a bit, but he can't be absolved of his duties. For obvious reasons.
He prefers to show himself as a polar bear, as that was what he was when he was still alive. It's also how he got his name, as he prefers it over just being called Death.
And yes, he does resemble a certain wolf a bit. GarPhaN95 outright admitted this. Despite that, I hope you like him!

So basically there isn't just one Grim Reaper in my universe but many, they function much in the same way as knights that not only protect the borders between the afterlife and the living world but also guide the souls of the dead to their respective afterlives. 99.99% are pre-deceased souls but there are anomalies such as my own character who develop the abilities while still alive.
The main knightly order, known as Ouroboros, is led by nine Generals who represent the epitome of power among the reapers. So someone who is basically the Adam of Grim Reapers would be considered among the oldest, wisest, and most powerful of their kind
