Disney's "Robin Hood" was released on videocassette for the first time on December 3, 1984. Although the film was originally released theatrically in 1973, it's home video release helped cement its popularity with teens and adults in the growing furry community (including many kids who would grow up to be furries). But even more so, it marked an important milestone for Disney β being the official launch title of their "Walt Disney Classics" line. In which the once "untouchable" animated classics were now becoming available for everyone's home video library. Here's a promotional video for that release: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA3t6z6I4_Y
Yes, I own an original VHS copy of "Robin Hood" from 1984 β complete with the black clamshell case, and featuring the "cheesy diamond" classics logo at the beginning (as well as the "Walt Disney and You" promo at the end). And yes, I have a huge collection of many Disney tapes I'd love to share more of.
# Robin Hood and Maid Marian were an early Christmas gift from my family.
