Honestly this is how i see a changeling hive. Lots of mindless brainwashed thralls being parisitised for emotions. Makes you wonder why they couldn't have formed a symbiotic relationship with the ponies. Being super good and nice because they legit CANT produce there own self love so they serve others happiness because being loved feeds them.

Most disappointing moment in the series was when they changed there look from that cool insect inspired one to something "Pretty". Having them be nice but also creepy was a perfect "don't judge people on appearance" theme and they missed it.
