Unnamed kobold girl sketches
Ever since I got back to the drawing board and resumed creating stuff and whatever (circa 2018) I also decided I'd expand my range of species involved in my cast of characters, including fantasy races, legendary species, folkloric creatures, cryptids etc. rather than just stick to the animal kingdom. And contrary to the animal kingdom, such creatures don't really have an established form but popularized archetypes, often getting a particular iteration to fit a creator's needs.
Take kobolds for example - household entities from German folklore dating back from Middle Ages that were depicted as a variety of humans and humanoids back then, until someone decided to portray them as reptilians (I'd put my money on early official D&D illustrations) and it caught on, most often used designs ranging from "small biped dragons" to "scaly biped rodents" nowadays, and in quite a variety of colors too.
Thing is, I decided at least one of my top twelve OCs from the new 'Home Heroes' cast would be preferably an RPG race. And most definitely, kobolds were among the top five races I'd take into consideration. However... for some reason, all this time I simply couldn't get truly satisfied with any kobold design I'd try, be it trying to mimic a commonly seen design (specially those cute ones with "cartoon dinosaur" muzzle), be it trying to get a bit more edgy and come up with my own interpretation of it (like Dungeon Meshi did with theirs, practically resembling akitas on their hind legs). Despite not trying it all the time and eventually quitting the idea at some point, recently I've been occasionally doodling a concept here and there between commissions, and now I can finally say I honed it to the point of satisfaction. :D
So meet my yet unnamed female kobold OC, a skilled freelance spy and hacker which also happens to be among the "action girls" of the cast. Been building her personality traits here and there, and soon enough there'll be a proper introduction. ;) Also, the bottom right mugshot is a small test of how she might look with hair.
